<br><strong>Reports to:</strong> Directors of Community Engagement<br><strong>Status:</strong> Full-Time, Exempt<br><strong>Supervises Others: </strong>Volunteers<br><strong>Location:</strong> In-Person, Santa Ana, CA<br><strong>Compensation: </strong>$70,000 - $75,000 DOE<br><br><strong>SUMMARY:</strong><br><br>The Community Engagement Manager is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing OneOC’s volunteer and community engagement programs. This role blends volunteer coordination, grant management, event leadership, and business development to ensure program sustainability, community impact, and alignment with OneOC’s mission to accelerate nonprofit success. The Manager builds strong partnerships with nonprofits, businesses, and volunteers, while leading signature events and advancing revenue-generating opportunities. Strong hospitality and customer service skills are essential, as the Manager ensures all partners, volunteers, and community members experience a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment that fosters long-term relationships and engagement.<br><br><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<br></strong><br>Volunteer Recruitment, Engagement & Management<br>• Lead recruitment and onboarding of nonprofit partner sites, volunteers, and board placement candidates.<br>• Build and steward a vibrant volunteer community through orientation, training, recognition, and retention strategies.<br>• Provide training and technical assistance to nonprofit partners on volunteer management best practices.<br>• Oversee Volunteer Council of Orange County and board service programming (V|Lead placements).<br>• Manage HandsOn Connect Volunteer Management System (VMS) for tracking, outreach, and impact.<br>• Work with task forces to implement skills-based volunteer services, ensuring volunteer expertise is effectively matched with organizational needs.<br><br><strong>Community Engagement & Partnerships<br></strong><br>• Serve as lead liaison with businesses, nonprofits, and community groups to foster partnerships and promote volunteerism.<br>• Represent OneOC at community events, conferences, and networking opportunities.<br>• Coordinate monthly engagement communications, including newsletters, toolkits, and promotional materials.<br>• Collaborate with Marketing to ensure consistent messaging, outreach, and visibility for all programs.<br>• • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of volunteers by cultivating relationships, expanding networks, and engaging diverse community members.<br><br><strong>Grant & Program Management<br></strong><br>• Direct RSVP grant deliverables, ensuring compliance, reporting, and budget alignment.<br>• Train and support grant partners on reporting requirements and system usage.<br>• Maintain accurate data tracking through Salesforce and prepare funder reports.<br>• Ensure successful execution of all grant-funded activities.<br><br><strong>Signature Events & Campaigns<br></strong><br>• Lead the planning and execution of OneOC’s four Days of Service (MLK Jr. Day, Earth Day, 9/11 Day of Remembrance, Season of Giving).<br>• Volunteer Lead committees for major events, Spirit of Volunteerism and Community Cup.<br>• Develop and manage sponsor and nonprofit partnerships for events and campaigns.<br>• Oversee event logistics, outreach, and volunteer engagement.<br><br><strong>Revenue Development & Business Sustainability<br></strong><br>• Track revenue activities through Salesforce, including proposals, MOUs, and contracts<br>• Create and manage a portfolio of earned-income opportunities within volunteer and community engagement services.<br>• Achieve annual revenue goals through board placements, sponsorships, and service contracts.<br>• Prepare budgets, variance reports, and cash flow projections to support financial sustainability.<br>• Strategically build and diversify revenue streams by developing new service lines and cultivating partnerships that strengthen long-term sustainability and impact.<br><br><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:<br></strong><br>• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.<br>• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in community engagement, volunteer coordination, or nonprofit program leadership.<br>• Strong background in grant management, event planning, and partnership development.<br>• Proven success in revenue generation, business development, or program sustainability.<br>• Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.<br>• Proficiency in Salesforce, HandsOn Connect (or other volunteer management systems), and MS Office; familiarity with Canva, MailChimp preferred.<br>• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, committees, or cross-functional initiatives.<br><br><strong>ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong><br><br>• Supports the mission, vision, values, and goals of OneOC.<br>• Learns and retains best practices in working with volunteers.<br>• Participates in OneOC team goal setting, monitoring, and evaluation process.<br>• Collaborates with internal departments on special projects, providing coordination and event support.<br>• Serves as the lead point of contact for intern placements and onboarding in the Community Engagement Department.<br>• Other duties as assigned.<br><br><strong>COMPUTER & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:<br></strong><br>• Proficient in Microsoft office.<br>• Uses typical office equipment.<br>• Experience with Canva, MailChimp, Salesforce and Volunteer Management database systems preferred.<br><br><strong>PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br><br>• Sits for extended periods of time at a computer station or work desk. Stands and walks throughout the day.<br>• Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment for up to 8 hours or more each day.<br>• Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses and vision sufficient to use equipment and drive a car safely.<br>• Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and on the telephone.<br>• Lifts up to 10 pounds regularly and 25 pounds occasionally.<br>• Safely drives own vehicle for business purposes; drives rented vehicles, (e.g., U-Haul trucks), up to 26 feet for projects as needed.<br>• Exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels.<br>• Willingness to travel for offsite events.<br><br><strong>MENTAL AND REASONING REQUIREMENTS:<br></strong><br>• Uses critical thinking skills to create documents and spreadsheets and interpret information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.<br>• Able to keep a calendar and reliably show up on time or early for obligations such as meetings and events.<br>• Able to set goals based on available information and to plan work to meet deadlines.
