Risk Assurance Specialist

As a Risk Assurance Senior Analyst you will support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Risk Framework by conducting control assurance reviews, targeted audits, and risk assessments. Working closely with the Risk & Enterprise Assurance Team, other business units and senior stakeholders, you will help identify control gaps, escalate risks, and establish a strong risk culture through practical risk advice and oversight of remedial actions

Roles And Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development, refinement, and application of Metro Finance’s Controls and Testing Framework.
• Apply Controls Testing practices in line with the framework, including documenting and addressing operational risks through effective controls.
• Carry out control assurance activities across relevant business units, communicate findings, and support the follow-up of remedial actions.
• Assist in the implementation of internal audit activities to provide assurance on targeted operational areas.
• Assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls, identify control gaps, and recommend practical improvements.
• Escalate unmitigated risks, control weaknesses, incidents, and issues outside of tolerance to appropriate stakeholders, and help identify areas for further assurance focus.
• Collaborate on the preparation and delivery of high-quality risk management reporting for Team Leaders, Executive, and the Board.
• Provide input on business projects where Risk Assurance involvement is required.

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Big 4 Audit or Risk Advisory experience highly valued
• Understanding of Operational Controls and testing techniques
• AML/CTF and KYC regulatory requirements knowledge
• Good credit and financial analysis techniques
• Familiar with lending/privacy legislation and obligations
• Relevant undergraduate Degree in Economics, Commerce or Business
• Full Australian working rights, either citizenship or permanent residence
