POSITION SUMMARY
Performs and monitors a variety of laboratory testing and analysis; and assumes responsibility for problem resolution, quality control, and maintenance with minimal supervision.   POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in lab science or Medical Laboratory Technology
Minimum Work Experience: Clinical rotation or none required beyond education/training requirement or formal military training
Required Licenses/Certifications: None
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain a professional image and behavior. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Knowledge and technical proficiency in areas assigned within the laboratory. Knowledge of clinical laboratory medicine and techniques.
Preferred Qualification: At least one (1) year experience upon completion of baccalaureate degree and certification as a Medical Technologist by a nationally recognized board/agency.   JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.

4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.
5. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
6. Participates in training or teaching programs by providing instruction on basic theory, technical skills, and application of all test procedures.
7. Assists in training and documentation of competencies for student and new employees.
8. Identifies opportunities for improvements in the laboratory (i.e. employee training, process improvement...etc.).
9. Assists with root cause analysis of occurrence events and determines acceptable corrective actions and process improvements.
10. Understands and complies with good laboratory practice, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
11. Participate in readiness and internal and external inspections as needed.
12. Performs, documents, review, and monitor quality assurance activities.
13. Evaluates, plans, and validates new processes/techniques, procedures and equipment following established guidelines.
14. Communicates to Lab Leadership on concerns affecting laboratory operations.
15. Communicates critical values and testing delays to physicians, nursing staff, clients, and other hospital personnel. 16. Communicates and handles problems with customers, physicians and other hospital staff and responds to their needs in a timely manner.
17. Maintains positive patient identification for all such samples processed following defined protocols.
18. Determines suitability of specimen for analysis, following established procedures, policies, and guidelines.
19. Demonstrates skills in specimen receiving, processing, including the LIS.
20. Performs waived, moderate and/high complexity analytical process, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting per manufacturer standards, recognizes errors, troubleshoot using scientific principles and knowledge.
21. Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of reagents and supplies.
