Remote Position: available for candidates residing in Pennsylvania

Position Details:

The Labor Relations Director oversees all aspects of labor relations function and the labor relations team.  This position ensures compliance with labor laws and collective bargaining agreements, cultivates and manages union relations, collaborates with internal stakeholders to understand the organization and build strategy,  and negotiates collective bargaining agreements for all Merakey legal entities and divisions. This role requires strong leadership, negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of labor laws and employment regulations.

The Labor Relations Director Will:

  • Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholder to develop and implement labor relations strategies. that align with organizational vision, strategy and business goals.
  • Understand organization policies, systems, practices, and legal requirements that impact labor strategy.
  • Understand and implement processes and training to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Stay up to date on labor regulations and industry trends to mitigate risks.
  • Develop tools and resources to effectively manage the labor function.
  • Foster positive relationships with labor partners and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for union representatives.
  • Lead collective bargaining negotiations in collaboration with the labor team and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure that grievances, disputes, and contract interpretations are tracked, managed and resolved.
  • Collaborate and communicate with key internal stakeholders including Legal, Finance and Human Resources.
  • Experience handling labor arbitrations and mediations.
  • Provide guidance, training and consultation to labor relations team members, HR leadership, and executive leadership on labor relations matters, contract interpretation and understanding, risk assessment, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with HR and leadership to develop fair labor policies.
  • Provide guidance on employee discipline, investigations, and dispute resolution.
  • Work to foster positive employee relations and workplace culture.
  • Utilize data / trends to identify opportunities for improvement, training and initiatives and collaborate with Human Resources and other partners to develop solutions and implement.
  • Educate managers and employees on labor relations best practices.
  • Conduct training sessions on labor law compliance, conflict resolution, and contract administration.
  • Develop the team of Labor Specialists to effectively support management and the workforce in understanding labor and laobr agreements.
  • Develop and implement workforce strategies that promote a healthy labor environment.Lead union strategy and planning and provides recommendations to executive leadership on labor relations matters.Lead the team of Labor Specialists to ensure a coordinated approach to Labor Strategy.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Human Services, Labor, Law, or related field required
  • Master's in Labor Relations Preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years in Labor Relations experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of labor law at the federal level, with the ability to interpret updates and changes at the federal, state, and local levels.

The ideal candidate will possess;

  • SHRM certificate preferred.
  • Certified Labor Relations Professional preferred.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of labor laws, HR regulations and labor and HR best practices.
