Job Summary:
In this position, the Shipper Receiver provides the safe and efficient movement of materials into and out of the production warehouse while ensuring and demonstrating monthly compliance with all Safety legislation, corporate goals & policies. In addition, responsible for operating a hot wire cutting table & wrapping material as required.
What You Will Do:
- Transporting materials to and from trucks, pallets, shelves, racks, and floor areas by hand or with material handling equipment (forklift, truck, or handcart).
- Shipping – organize and complete shipping documents for customer order pickups.
- Shipping – contacting 3rd party carriers to organize and complete shipping documents for customer order deliveries.
- Receiving – receiving, unloading and transporting of stock loads materials.
- Receiving – Forklift assisted & physically offloading stock trailers.
- Receiving- entering stock inventory directly into synapse.
- Ensure the correct paperwork corresponds with the material being shipped or received.
- Oversee trailer movements and track and record trailer contents in the yard.
- Report defects and breakage of materials handled.
- Responsible for operating the hot wire cutting table to produce & package accurate and efficiently produced orders.
- Records cutting reports & hours within livelink.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude when dealing with customers in person & on the phone.
- Customer calls- contacting customers for order picks & deliveries.
- Customer calls – serves as back up to answering customer general calls.
- Organize, track and count monthly and year-end inventory & counts.
- Serve as JHSC Safety Officer – gathers and prepares monthly safety meeting minutes & monthly goals and KPI’s records.
- Maintain Forklift maintenance & logbook records.
- Organize, Maintain & Clean the entire warehouse.
- Follow all company safety policies.
- Serve as backup to other duties within the branch.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/ Skills/ Knowledge:
- Minimum grade 12 education.
- 3-5 years’ experience in Production Warehouse.
- Valid Forklift certification and experience required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to accurately complete shipping paperwork.
- Basic computer skills to enter shipping and receiving into the Synapse system.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team.
- Good time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to operate a forklift truck in a safe and responsible manner.
- Mathematical aptitude required for inventory management.
- Understanding of dimensions and able to read a tape measure.
- Able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Good physical condition - able to lift up to 25 kgs repeatedly throughout the day.
- Maintains Forklift certificate with Safe Forklift Operation record.
- Remain current with JHSC training.
- Product knowledge and customer service experience
Working Conditions:
- Fast paced manufacturing environment where workers are exposed to both ambient/outside temperatures and dust; working with mechanical parts and pinch points; exposure to increased noise levels.
- Hours worked: 8-10 hours/shift, varies on shift schedule and business volume.
- Flexible to the possibility of overtime and weekend hours when required.
- Heavy, stationary machinery on manufacturing floor.
- Radio, Calculator, Measuring Devices.
- Hand tools.
- Computer (Shop Floor and ERP).
