Master Thesis, 30 hp: Advanced Keystone signal processing methods for radar systems

Background

Improvements in computational power allow for new types of advanced signal processing methods that enable both new types of radar systems and radar modes with large improvements in radar performance. Processing based on the Keystone transformation with long integration times is one such example. In earlier radar systems, such processing techniques have been hindered by limits in both analog and digital electronics. With current and emerging radar systems, this situation is now changed and versions of the Keystone transformation are now feasible.

Description Of The Master Thesis:

• Review of different types of Keystone transformations
• Analysis of applicability of these transformations for a set of radar modes and systems
• Evaluation of computational complexity for a set of radar modes and systems
• Evaluation of radar performance for a set of radar modes and systems

The master thesis includes modelling and simulations in Matlab or similar software. It also includes reviewing a set of publications for the Keystone transformation (a large set exists in the public domain, the thesis supervisors will help select the most relevant for this master thesis).

You are at the end of your masters education and about to start your Master Thesis work for 30 HP.
