Are you passionate about supporting young people to successfully transition into independent living? Use your expertise to provide housing and tenancy support to vulnerable young people in our community.
This full-time role of Youth Housing Specialist [Identified] supports our mission by providing crisis, brief intervention and ongoing planned support to young people including BYS tenants, enabling young people to successfully transition into independent living. This position works collaboratively with other teams within BYS, key partners and the broader community to effectively respond to issues associated with housing and homelessness.
You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you:
- Hold A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Social Sciences or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field.
- Have experience working holistically with vulnerable young people, using brief solution focused crisis interventions and ongoing planned support, building trusting relationships with young people and young families.
- Have Experience conducting thorough assessments of a young person’s situation and support needs, including suicide and DFV risk assessments.
- Hold a Demonstrated understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a community housing provider in accordance with the National Regulatory System of Community Housing (NRSCH).
- Possess strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently and contribute positively within a team.
- Can demonstrate effective communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills and writing skills and the ability to advocate on behalf of others.
Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:
- Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
- National Police Check clearance.
- Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough].
