Purpose & Scope:
As a Working student in Research & Innovation at Johnson Electric, you will play a key part in shaping the future of electric mobility by assessing components of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) powertrains using powder metallurgy (PM). Your responsibilities will involve designing gears for BEV applications to meet the durability requirements and enhanced NVH performance. Additionally, you will validate the designs by conducting tests on test-rigs and through in-vehicle testing.
Collaborate with experienced engineers and project managers, contributing to projects from conceptualization to execution, ensuring a blend of theoretical learning with practical application. Gain hands-on experience in key mechanical engineering disciplines, applying academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges within a leading industrial setting.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Design and analysis of gears using KISSsoft.
- Evaluation of other mechanical components including shafts, bearings and other mating components in BEV transmission.
- Modal analysis of components through experimental testing and simulation.
- Detailed documentation of results and creation of 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Track and monitor tasks, deadlines, and milestones.
- Support the testing and validation of innovative products.
- Document project progress, testing outcomes, and validation processes.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders and teams.
Education, Qualifications And/Or Experience
Education And/Or Experience:
- Enrolled in a relevant degree program (Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, Mechatronics, Energy Systems Engineering).
- Knowledge in gear design software like KISSsoft, MASTA, Zako3D.
- Strong interest in innovation, project management, and product validation.
- Excellent organizational skills and a structured way of working.
- Ability to prioritize and work independently.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CAD tools
Language Skills:
- Proficient in English (both spoken and written)
- German and/or Chinese are beneficial
