For our Group Internal Audit department, we are looking for a Senior Internal Auditor (f/m/d) to assist the Heidelberg Materials Group in accomplishing objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

The position is based at our Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany and report to the Area Audit Director.

In this role, you will focus on Africa, the Eastern Mediterranean Basin, West Asia (AMWA) and Southern Europe.

Your Next Challenge:

  • Assist the Heidelberg Materials Group in accomplishing objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
  • Prepare audits. Structure audit objects. Identify interfaces and relevant technical/economical data. Understand the means and targets of processes, analyse related risk and deduce requirements for internal controls. Identify relevant external and internal regulations. Identify relevant data sources and analyse them. Determine an (micro-) audit strategy.
  • Manage audits. Plan project timing, identify involved personnel, and ensure communication. Agree on interfaces and timing with auditees. Identify tests which can be conducted from your office, and obtain all available information. Adjust the audit strategy, if necessary. Ensure risk-adjusted utilisation of audit resource – meet the planned deadline or agree on an extension.
  • Conduct analysis. Conduct process analysis. Carry out planned tests and elaborate them based on the found results.Go for evidence in case of identified deviations. Assess whether the internal controls are adequate and effective. Clarify issues with the appropriate management level. Recommend practical measures to address the issue. Present findings towards the auditee. Condense results straightforward, precise and user-oriented (Board and Senior Management).
  • Trace results. Sufficiently document the audit work. Review the audit strategy and ensure efficient test methods are applied in future projects. Suggest relevant audit subjects. Trace agreed actions, analyse related feedback from auditees.
  • Specialise in competence areas. For assigned competence areas (countries or processes), network with Heidelberg Materials staff, keep yourself informed about Best Practices and utilise such information for audit strategies. Share this expertise actively with your colleagues.

Your Profile:

  • MBA / national equivalent or a University degree in relevant sciences.
  • At least five years of operational auditing experience in comparable industries and knowledge of audit methodologies and practices.
  • CIA qualification preferred but not a must.
  • Comfortable in an international environment, which demands an excellent command of English. Additional knowledge of Russian and/or French is an advantage.
  • Flexible and used to working with multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications, SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Having good IT and/or Data Analytics skills. Willingness and ability to become acquainted with new IT systems/applications, including AI, quickly.
  • Willing to travel around 30%-40%.
