What’S The Role?
We’re hiring a Team Lead – NSW who will be responsible for managing an SBS team comprising Account Managers, Assistant Account Managers, and Credit Analysts. Each team member oversees a portfolio of sub-standard and impaired customer relationships. This role reports directly to the Executive Manager, SBS – Business & Wealth.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Strong people leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate, provide feedback, coach, and guide team members in their support of customers experiencing financial difficulty.
• Partner with Account Managers to engage directly with customers and their advisers when required, using insight and experience to protect Westpac’s balance sheet and reputation, retain customers, and deliver fair and balanced customer strategies and outcomes.
• Ensure team compliance with policy, regulatory, and governance requirements, including credit decisions, customer data management, and file strategy.
• Collaborate with external advisers—such as insolvency firms and legal counsel—alongside Account Managers to develop effective credit risk management strategies.
• Conduct hindsight reviews of credit decisions within SBS to identify learnings and opportunities for improvement.
What do I need?
- We are looking for professionals who bring:
- • Proven people and team leadership experience within the financial services sector (essential).
- • Demonstrated success as a change agent and leader, driving transformation and continuous improvement.
- • Strong expertise in business credit assessment and risk management, supported by extensive direct customer engagement.
- • Highly organised, with effective planning across team activities (e.g., managing annual leave and resource allocation).
- • Skilled in financial analysis with strong business acumen.
