What We're Looking For

Baylor University is seeking an Associate Director of International Admissions Counseling in our Undergraduate Admissions department. This position supports the mission of the university by assisting all prospective international students in the evaluation of admissions criteria & international coursework, including Global Gateway students, direct admit freshmen, and transfer students. This position oversees the processing and operations of the international admissions documents, decisions, and the articulation of international credentials in order to meet the international undergraduate enrollment goals.

A bachelor's degree and two years of relevant work experience are required. A bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience are preferred. Additional education or experience will be considered in lieu of one another.

  • Ability to negotiate important vendor relations to achieve university goals while considering long-term partnership
  • Ability to make critical operations and process decisions for the continued betterment of the Global Gateway Program
  • Ability to indirectly supervise across functional teams
  • Superior organization and ability to handle and apply complex information
  • Ability to create and innovate systems and processes to support large volumes of applications to be completed and reviewed within very short timeframes
  • Ability to handle external relations when needed (give presentations/travel/etc)

Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis. 

What You Will Do

  • Develop, manage & direct operational flow of international documents and admission file review process
  • Strategize and continually develop best methods to achieve timely & accurate decisions of multiple channels of international students 
  • Redevelop processes as scale changes to meet institutional needs
  • Manage daily decisions and correspondence for students as lead representative for Baylor admissions operations
  • Maintain close working relationship with partner organizations while utilizing Baylor admissions counseling perspective in all decision making
  • Manage the credential evaluation of all the international freshman and international transfer applicant pool
  • Review all college transcripts, enter courses and perform articulation of transcripts, awarding credit as appropriate
  • Complete & review international application files using advanced knowledge of Banner/IRMA/Slate. Prepare and review by recalculating GPA/test scores/English Proficiency
  • Determine eligibility & make admissions decisions
  • Manage daily correspondence, telephone follow-up, e-mails, and inquiries pertaining to academic credential, credit equivalencies and other related international issues
  • Counsel prospective students & international high school/college staff as needed
  • Research international schools, countries, & academic regulations on a regular basis
  • Maintain certification in international credential analysis through NAFSA/AACRAO/IACAC, & assist the international admissions team in completing enrollment plan/goals as needed
  • Conduct international travel to assist with high school visits and enrollment management programming overseas based on the needs of the team
  • Schedule virtual admissions appointments with students and high school visits
  • Supervise, train and support International Admission Coordinators
  • Assist Senior Director in managing staff meetings as needed, assigning goals & territories, and managing travel/schedules in partnership with the domestic counseling team leadership
  • Focus on building strategies for global markets as well as onshore international students
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
