- Position Summary:
- The Pharmaceutical Development Program Manager (PDPM) is part of the Delivery Operations Function within PMO and has the following key areas of responsibility to deliver program outcomes:
- Provide insights into project timelines and resources, exhibit proactive risk and issue management, and enhance the asset value for pharmaceutical development and lifecycle management programs within the Therapeutics Development & Supply (TDS) and Preclinical Sciences & Translational Safety (PSTS) areas of expertise
- Drive strategic decisions and achieve key deliverables of the TDS team, PSTS team, and Project Management teams (PMT), based upon available data, assumptions, scenario development and critical path analysis
- Provide advice on seamlessly delivering the development plan in line with key decision points and risk mitigation and avoidance activities
- Represent TDS and PSTS in PMTs to contribute to cross-functional planning, budgeting, and risk management, and act as key liaison towards finance
- Participate in initiatives for continuous improvement and simplification across PDPM, PRP and PMO to provide project management support in a more efficient and effective manner
Principal Responsibilities:
- Provide program management support to pharmaceutical development and lifecycle management programs from late lead optimization up to and including transfer of ownership
- Work closely with functional experts on the TDS and PSTS teams to translate compound development strategies into end-to-end operational TDS and PSTS plans, scenarios, budgets, and risk management approaches, while considering, documenting, and communicating assumptions and opportunities
- Be an active member of assigned TDS teams, PSTS teams, and PMTs and key communication bridge between TDS functions, PSTS functions, CDT, and finance
Principal Relationships:
- Internal: TDS and PSTS teams and functions, PMTs, Finance, Innovative Medicine Supply Chain, PRP, and Global Development
- External: External collaboration partners for pharmaceutical development projects
- Education and Experience Requirements:
- Required minimum education and related experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline (master’s degree preferred)
- Hands-on knowledge of CMC and nonclinical aspects of pharmaceutical development is required
- Stakeholder management, influencing without formal authority, conflict resolution, and clear and transparent communication are required skills and abilities
- Experience in project management in a matrix organization or process excellence is preferred
Experience with clinical development and regulatory affairs is preferred
Other:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or another project management certification is preferred
- Up to 10% international travel may be required
