The Manager of Enterprise Student Systems will manage the staff responsible for maintaining and improving Middlebury’s Student Information Systems and custom or delivered applications supporting admissions, student financial services, document management, registrations among others. This position also plays a key role in assisting with or leading the implementation of new enterprise-wide and department systems from a technology and student best practices perspective for Middlebury and affiliated institutions.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $88,197-$112,497 per year.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize staff time, balancing ongoing maintenance with support for new projects with operational support; planning training and cross-training of staff where appropriate to maintain data integrity and security
  • Lead system management and service delivery with vendors with oversight to minimize unplanned service interruptions, effectively resolve functionality and performance-related issues, identify maintenance windows to minimize disruptive changes, perform functional and stress testing, and implement effective change management procedures.
  • Analyzes and delegates software development tasks to programming development staff.
  • Provides analysis and consultation to technical and functional staff to promote data-informed decision making.
  • Provide expertise in system and process analysis, project management, application development and design, programming standards and policies, system implementation and support, security design and data stewardship, and change management.
  • Lead peer groups and discussions, or delegate leadership to staff, on topics and training to support functional users in optimizing usage of student-, staff- and faculty-facing applications under their area of responsibility.
  • Maintain direct responsibility of the development, implementation, and support of data and systems integrations for SIS and related products.
  • Cultivate a customer-focused, responsive team that encourages individual initiative, collaboration with colleagues and proactively seeks innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years progressive experience in a technical field emphasizing software development, business analysis and technical
  • project management.
  • Strong communication and planning skills consistent with effective management of an organizationally critical, complex,
  • highly technical IT service organization.
  • Must have logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Higher education experience in student systems management is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and best practices of the software development life cycle is
  • preferred. Working experience with security best practices within enterprise integrations is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in scripting languages, CI/CD, Agile/Kanban, source control management, automated testing.

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
