About the Position: Reporting to the COO, the Vice President of Embedded Payments (“VPEP”) is responsible for developing and maintaining integrated payment initiatives within the organization, which includes development and execution, strategic partnerships, enterprise merchant assistance, overseeing regulatory compliance, and providing key performance insights to internal and external stakeholders. The VPEP is also responsible for expanding partnerships with banks, networks, and vendors, optimizing KPI/KRI reporting, and identifying new opportunities. Further, the VPEP shapes go-to-market strategies, coordinates cross-functional initiatives, and evaluates ROI for new business opportunities. Additionally, the VPEP represents the company in industry events, contributes to thought leadership, and enhances brand positioning. 
  • Lead efforts to scale and develop new markets via complex use cases, including integrated and embedded payments.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with partner banks, auditors, and internal risk teams, ensuring alignment with compliance and operational expectations. 
  • Develop and implement a structured relationship management framework, including a clear interaction model, communication plan, and coordination of enhancements for strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate regulatory changes, providing assessments on potential impacts to product offerings and ensuring proactive measures. 
  • Actively engage with card networks through partner banks and processor partners, staying informed on industry trends and advocating for strategic initiatives. 
  • Oversee the development and delivery of Key Performance & Risk Indicator (KPI/KRI) reporting to provide critical insights into operational and financial performance. 
  • Aggregate and analyze data to create comprehensive KPI/KRI reports for internal company use, ensuring a holistic view of all data for strategic decision-making. 
  • Develop and maintain KPI/KRI reporting for third parties, including card networks and processors, to facilitate transparency and operational efficiency. 
  • Develop and refine detailed profiles and personas based on strategic go-to-market approaches to identify and attract the right partners. 
  • Conduct ongoing market assessments and competitive scans to build and maintain a strong pipeline of potential partners and initiatives. 
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with prospective partners, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering long-term strategic partnerships. 
  • Partner closely with Product for new solutions focused around Company’s dashboard, gateway, white labeled solution, and future programs including Visa VPC, BaaS, payfac/marketplace, and other key enhancements. 
  • Leverage new product offerings such as network tokens, real time account updater, one click checkout, alternative payment methods, and other tools to remain competitive and increase distribution.
  • Fully scope competing product offerings related to payment facilitators, ISVs, marketplaces, BaaS, money movement (pay in and pay out), RTP/Fednow, MCP/DCC, and other emerging products that can be utilized to keep Company at forefront of industry.
  • Represent and be the “voice of the customer” for new payments solutions geared towards technology-focused payment offerings. 
  • Influence cross-functionality across Legal, Underwriting/Risk, Product, Business Development, and Marketing to drive alignment on go-to market narrative. 
  • Serve as a thought leader and strategic advisor in shaping future go-to-market strategies, ensuring alignment with industry trends and business goals. 
  • Coordinate key projects with partner banks and stakeholders across the partner ecosystem to drive execution and operational excellence. 
  • Develop ROI pro forma models to evaluate the financial impact of new initiatives and partnerships, supporting data-driven decision-making. 
  • Initial due diligence, creating business cases and including various additional elements for operational and system improvements, additions, and revamps.  
  • Creating and implementation of various analysis of possible programs, such as payfac as a service, marketplace, autonomous reseller programs while considering card brand rules, Company’s policies and procedures, and overall adoption and compliance.  
  • Advising on policy and procedure enhancements to enhance distribution of Company’s strategic products and technology.  
  • Work with Company’s close vendors and partners as it relates to strategic programs. 
  • Acting as an escalation point to assist with unique or complex use cases that do not have standardized solutions.  
  • Exercising independent judgment, discretion and decision making related to department escalations and responsibilities
  • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events to enhance brand visibility and cultivate key relationships. 
  • Contribute thought leadership by working with other teams such as Marketing and Product to create content such as white papers and industry publications, and sharing insights on emerging trends and regulatory developments, geared towards the Company’s strategic programs. 
  • Lead brand-building initiatives by engaging in community involvement efforts, benefiting both the company and partner banks, particularly in meeting Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) requirements. 
  • Supporting specialized projects on an as-needed basis as directed by Department or Company leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • 8-10 years of industry experience specific to Payments/Operations/Underwriting/Compliance/Technology/Product.
  • 4-5 years in a leadership role specific to merchant services. 
  • Experience leading and collaborating across departments, including operations, finance, compliance, and marketing. 
  • Knowledge with payment technology such as third-party processors, payment gateways, software vendors, and the various tools including without limitation network tokens, account updater, 3DS, etc.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Excel.  
  • Knowledgeable in merchant acquiring and related products/services. 
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and practices in relation to Underwriting, Risk and Compliance. 
  • Ability to develop, refine, and implement long-term business strategies that align with organizational goals. 
  • Expertise in overseeing high-impact initiatives, ensuring timely execution, and managing cross-functional teams. 
  • Ability to have a high-level understanding of technical integrations, including API and related mechanisms.
  • Deep understanding of the banking and payments ecosystem, including emerging trends and regulatory changes. 
  • Skilled in fostering and maintaining strategic partnerships, particularly with banks, regulators, and industry groups. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences. 
  • Strong ability to assess market trends, identify opportunities, and position the company for growth. 
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and ROI analysis to evaluate strategic investments. 
  • Strong analytical thinking to navigate complex business challenges and make data-driven decisions. 
  • Ability to engage, influence, and build credibility with senior executives, board members, and external stakeholders. 
  • Ability to drive transformation initiatives and lead teams through organizational shifts. 
  • Ability to enhance corporate reputation through industry advocacy and community involvement. 
  • Ability to professionally represent the company at industry events, conferences, and in publications.

Pay Range: $200k to $220k/Annually
This position frequently travels locally and domestically as business needs require.
