Virgin Media O2 (VMO2) is entering an exciting new phase of growth, opening up its fibre broadband network to external consumer Internet Service Providers (ISPs) on a wholesale basis for the first time, while continuing to expand its existing B2B2B offerings. This ambitious move marks a major step in VMO2’s journey to unlock new revenue streams, build strategic partnerships, and reshape the UK connectivity landscape!

Joining at a pivotal moment, this role offers the opportunity to be part of a constantly evolving team. As new capabilities are developed and customer demands increase, the Fixed Wholesale division is scaling up to meet the challenge, and this role sits at the heart of that transformation!

As Head of Strategy, you will define, refine, and lead the execution of VMO2’s Wholesale Fixed strategy across both B2B2B and B2B2C markets. Your work will directly shape our approach to value creation and sustainable growth, balancing short-term wins with long-term strategic positioning.

In addition to setting strategic direction, you will play a key role in customer engagements, supporting the negotiation of high-impact B2B2C deals that could define the next chapter of VMO2’s wholesale story.

As a senior leader within the Wholesale Extended Leadership Team, you’ll bring a powerful mix of commercial insight, customer focus, and strategic foresight. You’ll evaluate the profitability and scalability of emerging opportunities, while keeping a constant pulse on shifts in the competitive, technological, and regulatory environment, ensuring our Wholesale Fixed strategy remains agile, forward-looking, and fully aligned with market dynamics.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Decisive leader with a proven ability to set strategic direction, translate strategies into actionable plans, and deliver against challenging objectives across complex environments
  • Proven commercial track record with ability to improve business performance
  • Proficiency in guiding cultural transformation within varied teams
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, capacity to lead through demonstration, establish elevated expectations, convert strategies into actions, encourage and energize, offer detailed mentorship, and evaluate performance grounded in outcomes
  • Excellent customer management skills, including at senior management level. Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines, able to prioritise workload / tasks against fluid deadlines and handle customers accordingly
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to understand and interpret market, customer, financial, and operational insights
  • Strong planning skills, with experience of balancing short-term requirements with longer-term Strategies
  • Best-in-class negotiation, relationship management and influencing skills at a senior level
  • The ability to think creatively, and develop new solutions
The other stuff we are looking for

We'd also love you to bring;

  • Significant experience in strategy, corporate development, or management consulting, with significant exposure to the telecoms sector
  • Strong understanding of telecom infrastructure ownership, wholesale operations, and both B2B and B2C commercial models
  • Proven experience developing and implementing strategy in a high-growth or change-focused setting
  • Strong/advanced financial experience is crucial
