Job Overview:

Location: Ohio Valley Area

The Associate Director, Operations will be responsible for leading daily activities and oversite at multiple facilities in the Ohio Valley area. There are 4 production facilities, one located in Marietta OH (also a distribution location), two located in Institute WV, and one in Butler, PA. There are also 2 trucking centers, one located in Ashland KY and the other located in New Carlisle, OH. These facilities have approximately 4 direct reports and 60 total staff in area. The successful candidate will report directly to the NE Operations Director.

The primary role of the Area Operations Manager will be to direct and monitor all aspects of the business at each location. The candidate will have responsibility for interfacing with the national operations, logistics and distribution organization to ensure safe, efficient and profitable operations.

This is a front-line operations role. Accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone) is required. The position will require overnight travel between sites. Travel could be >50%. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Safe and profitable operation of the facilities.
  • Manages and achieves plant fixed and variable cost goals, to meet financial targets.
  • Delivers defined value in annual productivity savings.
  • Manages power at facilities to meet contract and to minimize energy costs.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements which include but are not limited to: OSHA PSM/RMP, DOT, FDA, HPFBI, NYSDEC, EPA etc. Adheres to all internal company policies, programs, and standards.
  • Maintains relationships with suppliers and customers and meets contractual obligations.
  • Accountable for a team of approximately 55 employees and directly manages staff of four (4) exempt employees.
  • Long term planning for retention, recruitment, training, and professional development of employees.
  • Manages the CBA (Teamsters) for professional drivers, key contributor in contract negotiations.
  • Develop, plan, and execute short, and long-term maintenance strategies to ensure reliable, cost-effective operations.
  • Manage the sites portfolio of capital and expense projects.
  • Engages support teams for projects or technical assistance.
  • Places high value on team building and effective communications across the organization.
  • Reacts urgently to plant issues, garnering the required resources to minimize impact to customers and the business.
  • Communicates effectively with logistics to ensure reliable and efficient deliveries to customers.
  • Engages with community and professional organizations.
 

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 10 years Operations or Distribution experience with 5 years Management experience.
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and making informed decisions, sometimes with limited information.
  • Proven ability to lead and quickly adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong communications skills, and a strong will to build and maintain productive relationships across departmental lines.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to drive execution of projects as well as strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • The position will require overnight travel between sites. Travel could be >50%. 
  • Experience within the Industrial Gases industry is highly preferred.
