As our VP- Business Solution Architect, you will partner with the senior Business, Operations and Technology leadership within SLM and Commercial Insurance to understand the business strategy and design an effective operating model, overall Solution architecture and end to end processes and capabilities to drive business outcomes. Acting as a strategic partner, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions. You will design and implement scalable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions that align with organizational goals and drive business transformation. Furthermore, you will collaborate with stakeholders across departments to analyze business processes, identify challenges, and recommend solutions that enhance productivity, improve customer experiences, and support long-term growth.
In This Role You Will:
- Develop and design end-to-end business solutions that align with organizational objectives, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and alignment with industry best practices. In partnership and close collaboration with business owners and usability teams, design a wholistic future state employee experience and interim state options across Underwriting and Operations building strategic capabilities across the insurance life cycle from new business to post bind including account management, risk selection and decision making, rating, pricing, UW collaboration and work management
- Lead solution architecture efforts for key projects, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budgets, and alignment with business goals. Support the execution Product Owners within agile implementation responsible for overall Epics, Features and User Stories that represents business strategy and design, system functionality; are required to support business functions and their associated benefits
- Partner with business leaders, IT teams, and other stakeholders to understand business needs, gather requirements, and translate them into technical solutions.
- Analyze current business processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements to optimize workflows and achieve operational excellence. Analysis and design of business capabilities and functions that include People, Process, Partners & Technology. Designing, sequencing and executing business projects to advance the business strategy and business architecture
- Evaluate and recommend technology platforms, tools, and systems that best meet business requirements while ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including solution designs, workflows, and technical specifications, to ensure clarity and alignment across teams.
- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with proposed solutions and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously enhance solution design and delivery.
- Provide guidance and training to teams on implemented solutions, ensuring smooth adoption and ongoing support. Create the Business Architecture practice and framework to be leveraged on all strategic projects
- 15-20 years business architecture and strategy experience preferably in the Insurance and Financial Services industries
- A broad business unit view of the business and appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
- Ability to recognize structural issues within the organization, functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies. Those issues may exist in role alignment, process gaps and overlaps, and business capability maturity gaps
- Proven experience as a Business Solution Architect
- Strong understanding of business processes, systems integration, and technology solutions
- Proficiency in business architecture and solution design methodologies, frameworks, and tools
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to apply architectural principles, methods, and tools to business challenges
- Demonstrated experience visualizing and creating high-level models and diagrams that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture
- Extensive experience planning and deploying either business or IT initiatives (preference for both)
- Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations
- Act as a liaison between the business unit and Information Technology counterparts to collect and convey business requirements, data constraints, business rules, processes and accountabilities
- Able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus
