VP of Product, Discrete Manufacturing

This STG portfolio company is a high-growth, private equity–backed business serving the discrete manufacturing sector. We are seeking a Vice President of Product to lead product strategy, innovation, and execution with a focus on delivering measurable value to discrete manufacturing customers across Enterprise, Mid-Market, and SMB segments.

This is a high-visibility leadership role for a customer-obsessed product leader with deep understanding of discrete manufacturing operations, production workflows, and technology needs. The VP of Product will drive product vision, manage a portfolio that balances growth and maintenance-mode products, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that win in the market.

What You’Ll Do

• Lead & Inspire
• Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing product management team with expertise in discrete manufacturing.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation across product, engineering, and go-to-market teams.
• Develop future leaders and create opportunities for team growth and development.
• Define the Vision
• Own product strategy anchored in discrete manufacturing customer outcomes, ICP clarity, and ROI.
• Balance investments between growth products and mature product lines to maximize market impact.
• Drive platform innovation, including AI-enabled solutions, to meet discrete manufacturing challenges.
• Know the Market
• Lead market research, competitive intelligence, and pricing strategy for the discrete manufacturing sector.
• Identify competitor differentiators and define strategies to win customer business based on demonstrable ROI.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing to ensure product positioning aligns with buyer priorities and industry trends.
• Execute with Excellence
• Partner with engineering to deliver scalable, high-quality products across both cloud and on-premise solutions.
• Ensure roadmaps are data-driven, prioritized, and aligned with company growth, profitability, and EBITDA goals.
• Promote cross-functional accountability to ensure timely delivery and adoption of products.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of progressive product leadership experience, including leading and scaling high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated experience managing products for discrete manufacturing companies (automotive, electronics, industrial machinery, etc.).
• Proven success across Enterprise, Mid-Market, and SMB segments.
• Experience with both cloud-native and on-premise product delivery models.
• Knowledge of AI and digital technologies relevant to discrete manufacturing.
• Strong financial and business acumen with ability to build ROI-driven investment cases.
• Experience in private equity–backed or high-growth companies is a strong plus.
• Executive presence with the ability to inspire teams, influence stakeholders, and engage customers.
