The Global Category Manager for Microbiology, Genetics, and Molecular will be responsible for leading procurement strategies and activities within these specialized categories at Unilabs. This position requires deep expertise in microbiology and molecular diagnostics products, including reagents, instruments, and services. The successful candidate will utilize their strategic acumen to drive cost efficiencies, supplier optimization, and innovation in procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement global procurement strategies for the Microbiology, Genetics, and Molecular categories, ensuring alignment with Unilabs’ overall objectives and clinical requirements.
  • Conduct thorough market analysis to identify trends, supplier capabilities, and potential new products that align with laboratory needs and technological advancements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including R&D, laboratories, and quality assurance teams, to gather insights and ensure that product specifications meet clinical and operational needs.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and metrics to evaluate supplier performance and procurement effectiveness within these categories.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through effective negotiation, strategic sourcing, and value analysis projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards for procured products.
  • Provide market insights and reporting to senior management to inform decision-making and strategic direction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • At least 7-10 years of procurement experience, with a focus on microbiology, genetics, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory processes, product specifications, and regulatory requirements within the diagnostics field.
  • Proven track record of supplier management, contract negotiation, and category management.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making and process improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in procurement tools, data analysis software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Full proficiency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
