The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (DTU Chemical Engineering), Pilot Plant is seeking to strengthen its capabilities in bioprocess scale-up and biomanufacturing. We are therefore looking for a motivated person with a passion for working on pilot-scale fermentations (10–200 L) and downstream processes such as filtration, evaporation, chromatography, crystallization and Cleaning in Place.
The job
The primary responsibility of the candidate will be to support external collaborators in commercial activities within our Pilot Facility. In addition, the role includes contributing to teaching practical unit operations and providing equipment support for our research activities.
You will play a key role in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of pilot-scale equipment, ensuring that our Pilot Plant is ready to support both commercial projects and cutting-edge research. This position offers the opportunity to develop hands-on expertise in bioprocessing while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
We are looking for someone who is eager to take on a steep learning curve, motivated to master new technologies, and comfortable working in both GMO and non-GMO biomanufacturing environment.
In this role, your main responsibilities will include:
- Operating pilot-scale fermentations (50–200 L) and contributing to downstream processing.
- Coordinating maintenance and repair of fermentation systems to ensure reliable operation.
- Creating clear and user-friendly operation manuals for fermentation and downstream equipment.
- Supporting a wide range of activities in our Pilot Plant facilities, contributing to both commercial success and academic research.

- Hold at least a master’s degree.
- Possess a solid foundation in fermentation technology.
- Have hands-on experience operating pilot-scale equipment.
- Are service-minded, flexible, and enjoy sharing knowledge and best practices with others.
- Have a strong sense of order and take pride in maintaining a clean and well-organized Pilot Plant.
- Bring a positive mindset, strong planning abilities, and good organizational skills.
- Are fluent in English and have a good command of Danish.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
