Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Manager, Academic Engagement to join Te Pātaka Kōrero – The Library in a permanent, full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Academic Engagement team to deliver effective and relevant learning, teaching, and research services and support for the academic community of the University.  
  • Actively contribute to strategic developments in Library learning, teaching, and research services to ensure that services remain effective and relevant and are communicated to stakeholders.
  • Cultivate partnerships and work collaboratively across the Library and University to deliver services and support for the University and its community.
  • Contribute to Te Pātaka Kōrero – The Library’s strategic developments and initiatives as an active member of the Library Leadership Team.

  • Be a motivated, experienced leader who blends strategic thinking with operational management and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Have a collaborative, flexible approach, an excellent manner with people, and the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse communities.

  • Enjoy leading and mentoring high-performing teams while juggling competing priorities with calm, sound judgement.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in leading teams in a library or tertiary education setting to successfully contribute to institutional goals.
  • Be collaborative and relationship focused, with the ability to make meaningful connections across both the Library and the broader University.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire, influence, and adjust to different audiences in a dynamic environment.
