Are you an experienced finance professional ready to make a tangible impact across a major infrastructure project? Downer is seeking a Finance Manager to join our Infrastructure Delivery team, supporting the Ōtaki to North of Levin Highway project.
About Ō2NL:
The Ōtaki to north of Levin (Ō2NL) highway will dramatically improve safety, resilience and efficiency, as well as increasing transport choices for the area’s growing population. The Ō2NL project is led in Partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Muaūpoko Tribal Authority, local hapū of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga and council partner Horowhenua District Council.
This transformative project is being delivered using a two-alliance approach, with each alliance delivering a section of the road and associated works. Together alliance partners are working to create a positive legacy for the region, led by our project principles to tread lightly with the whenua and create an enduring legacy. We are seeking excellent people for this unique opportunity to work and collaborate with leading industry organisations.
Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
In this pivotal role, you will work as part of the Ō2NL Southern Alliance team to ensure robust and transparent administration of the alliance commercial entity. You’ll be responsible for ensuring consistent adherence to alliance delegations of authority and business system processes, providing high-quality financial support, and leading a team of accounts professionals.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Establish and maintain robust financial systems and reporting processes to ensure compliance, transparency, and effective financial management across the alliance.
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, capability growth, and proactive financial leadership
- Support the preparation, monitoring, and control of alliance budgets to ensure accurate forecasting, cost tracking, and effective cashflow management.
- Ensure all financial activities adhere to alliance policies, audit requirements, legislation, and ethical standard through strong governance and compliance practices.
- Uphold partnership principles and cross-functional collaboration to ensure financial practices reflect Te Tiriti o Waitangi and actively support alliance goals.
This is an office-based role based in Ōtaki with a temporary location in Levin until December while our permanent office is under construction.
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
- 7+ years of experience in a senior finance role
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field
Ca/Cpa Qualified Preferred
- Financial management experience in large infrastructure or alliance projects (advantageous)
- Experience leading financial teams and systems
- Strong knowledge of NZ tax law and accounting standards
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Ability to manage complexity and drive performance in a fast-paced environment
