{D Part 1: Scope of Role? What you'll do?}
What you'll do in the role:
- Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm
- Responsible for and lead a significant set of deliverables, leveraging advanced understanding of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment
- Proactively identify emerging risks in individual and department work and contribute to strategies for mitigating them
- Act as a role model and culture carrier; Embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards
o Ensure the MS Indian entities pay the correct amount of GST at the right time and identify and manage risk in line with Global Indirect Tax policy
o Ensure MS India is compliant with Indirect Tax rules, regulations and guidance
o Monitor for changes in GST regulation and interpretation by Tax Authorities/Industry and communicate to stakeholders ie Business Units/Finance
o Oversee the return submission process to ensure Indirect Tax returns/payments are complete, accurate and submitted in a timely manner
o Collaborate with Finance, Accounts Payable, Operations, other business functions and external parties (such as EY) to ensure seamless integration of Indirect Tax processes
o Review and sign off indirect tax returns in accordance with the process documentation, identify control gaps
o Collect and analyse data, performing validation controls on internal systems data
o Build strong relationships with advisors and local industry groups
o Take ownership of balance sheet and expense accounts (as Reviewer), working with Budapest Indirect Tax Team (as Preparer) and London Indirect Tax (as Approver)
o Build and maintain strong relationships with the tax auditors, ensuring that all communications and interactions are handled professionally and effectively
o Attend face to face local audit meetings with the Tax Authority and prepare and oversee the collation of reposes to information requests
o Implement and maintain Governance frameworks and relevant documentation to align to Global models as required, including Governance for third party engagements
o Identify and implement improvements to indirect tax processes and controls, in line with Indirect Tax policy and processes
o Plan and oversee sourcing, managing and maintaining data from Morgan Stanley systems to facilitate specific processes supporting the tax department
o Carry out tasks related to the job in accordance with the instructions of the department head, India Tax Team and Indirect Tax team

What you'll bring to the role:
- Advanced understanding of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment and technical skills, as well as of industry and competitive environment
- Ability to provide positive and constructive
- feedback and acknowledge efforts of team members
- Ability to articulate risk and impact to various audiences, and create plans to mitigate those risks
o Bachelor's Degree in Tax or professioal Tax Exams or Finance/Accounting with direct experience in a simliar role for 6+ years.
o Minimum Experience Required for Role: 6+ years relevant experience with requisite competencies
o Clear and concise verbal communication skills.
o Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload and balance multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail
o Ability to collaborate and work effectively in an agile environment
o Sound numeric skills and accuracy.
o Good problem-solving skills
o Computer Skills: confident user of Excel, working knowledge or keen to learn use of visualization platforms including Tableau, Alteryx, and/or Power BI
o Willingness to seek guidance and solicit feedback to further self-development
o Have confident command of English language
