Director Strategic Initiatives and Operational Excellence -Health System Operations-Corporate-Full Time-Days-Hybrid
Under the direction of the office of the President and Chief Operations Officer and Operational Excellence & Business Innovation leadership, the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Operational Excellence works directly with Mount Sinai Health System service line leadership to develop and drive strategic operational priorities, alignment and integration across the multiple locations of care and ultimately improve the overall efficiency, quality, and performance of the service line. .
- Work with service line, health system leadership, and frontline operations to identify, develop, and drive strategic and operational initiatives focused on improving performance in key priority areas that include operational efficiency, patient experience, safety/quality and financial management
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including DTP, HR, Finance, and Clinical Leadership to ensure collaborative execution of initiatives
- Oversee all aspects of the initiative lifecycle from ideation, scoping, planning, and execution, sustainment and measurement
- Apply change management principles to ensure successful adoption and sustainment of initiatives
- Own and manage the full portfolio of strategic and operational initiatives
- Partner with system leadership to define and scope strategic initiatives while also leading the hands-on execution required to implement the work
- Work with health system and service line leadership to update and develop the overall strategic plan for the service line
- Monitor performance of the service line’s key operational, financial, quality, people and other performance metrics. Develop action plans when performance targets are not being met.
- Measure and monitor success and return on investment of all strategic and operational initiatives and
- Provide regular updates on initiatives and overall performance to health system leadership, service line leadership and other key stakeholders
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence by engaging frontline staff, promoting idea generation, and embedding operational excellence principles into daily work
- When appropriate, develop operational and/or business plans to support the successful achievement of departmental goals
- Manage team members (directly or indirectly) ensuring appropriate approach and execution of strategic initiatives
- Performs other responsibilities as required
Qualifications:
- Strong background in healthcare operations either in the ambulatory or inpatient setting including diagnostic and/or procedural areas
- Exceptional project management skills
- Experience in strategic planning and translating high-level goals into actionable initiatives
- Ability to design and take initiatives from abstract to concrete, can think strategically but also execute operationally with an attention to detail
- Ability to apply continuous improvement methodologies and recommendations in project work
- Experience with data analysis, interpretation and metric performance monitoring
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with all levels of the organization
Educational And Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors degree required (Masters preferred)
- Professional certifications preferred (i.e. PMP, Lean, etc.)
- 5-7 years of applicable professional experience related to healthcare operations
