Position Description:

The Communications and Marketing Specialist II (Assistant Director of Marketing) serves as the marketing director and game director for assigned sports. This includes developing comprehensive marketing strategies, social media management, advertising, promotional planning, creative planning, and game day execution for assigned sports.

This role collaborates with coaches, sports information, creative services, event management, and ticketing. Additionally, this position has oversight of interns and student volunteers involved in gameday and marking plan execution.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Marketing Director for Assigned Non-Revenue Generating Sports and/or Special Initiatives:

  • Meet with coaches before the season to discuss goals and ideas.
  • Creating, implementing, and executing a comprehensive marketing plan.
  • Create a promotional calendar with the given budget.
  • Planning and execution of preseason car wash shoot day.
  • Consistent communication with coaching staff, team operations, sports information, and event management for execution of promotions and game day.
  • Creation of team posters, roster cards, and in-venue design updates.
  • Work with ticket operations and ticket sales to put together a year-long ticket sales timeline and plan out advertising and promotion of sales.
  • Work directly with assigned team(s) and sports information to create a social media plan focused on branding the team and encouraging fan attendance.
  • Postseason planning, including ticket promotions, alumni partnerships, branding on the road, and pre-event planning.
  • Utilize Lytho project management and the Creative Services Team for the creation of all graphics, videos, and photo content.

Game Director for Assigned Non-Revenue Generating Sports:

  • Produce and direct home events, including videoboard.
  • Creative concepting and execution of in-game videos, including both hype intro videos and sponsorship content.
  • Create and load content as needed.
  • Work with videoboard crew for loading or execution of videoboard content.
  • Write run of show and scripts.
  • Work with Learfield Sports Properties to ensure execution of all sold sponsorship elements, as well as come up with new ideas for partner elements that enhance the game day experience.

 Undergraduate Intern & Student Volunteer Oversight:

  • Direct oversight of undergraduate interns and student volunteers assigned to Olympic sports.
  • Train interns and student volunteers assigned to Olympic sports on gameday execution, ROS, script writing, and videoboard execution.
  • Attend games and support assigned interns and student volunteers, providing guidance and developing skills needed to run events on their own.
  • Communicate with coaches to ensure assigned interns and student volunteers are providing appropriate level of support.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, including both verbal and written.
  • Master’s Degree in Marketing, Sport Administration, or a related field.
  • Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
