Job Summary:

The Engineering Intern will perform tasks as directed by the Controls Engineering management team. These tasks will include:

  • Development of Engineering drawings/documentation.
  • Formulate PowerPoint presentations of technical data and for business planning.
  • Support the day-to-day efforts within Tech Services Engineering including generating Code Changes, Acceptance Test Plans, Code Compares and device comparisons.

The Intern will use Excel, Word, AutoCAD, and varying Controls Software (Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.) based on the ride area that they are supporting as part of the development of the above items. The Intern will also support other Engineering-related tasks and other theme park related tasks, including support of documentation archival.

Learning Goals:

  • Develop an understanding of presentations developed from an Engineering and/or Business aspect.
  • Ability to properly document engineering systems that can be understood by a variety of audiences from Hourly to Exempt Team Members
  • Learn the fundamentals for Control Systems from PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, Servo Motors, etc.
  • Establish an understanding of Engineering commissioning support including troubleshooting, test and adjust period and proper change documentation.

Major Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting control systems at varying attractions
  • Test Documentation review and witnessing
  • Guideline creation for Troubleshooting, Lessons Learned, and Best Practices
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required. 
  • A transcript is required upon application.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

  • Preferred majors include: Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent Engineering, Engineering Technology degree, or similar.
  • Preferred coursework completed: Math; Electrical Systems; Engineering Design; Electrical Circuit
  • Excellent skills with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Introduction to Engineering Technologies.
  • Problem-Solving skills.
  • Understanding and skills in the development of presentations.

  • This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than August 2026.
  • Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
