Executive Quality Assurance - Blow Molding & Micro Lab

Ceylon Cold Stores PLC (CCS), manufacturer of Elephant House Soft Drinks and Ice Creams is a leading consumer food company in Sri Lanka. CCS is a subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC.

The company is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of Executive Quality Assurance - Blow Molding & Micro Lab. The position exists to carry out microbiological & chemical examinations for soft drinks, milk and raw materials within statutory and organizational guidelines with the objective of ensuring the products meet required standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Conducting microbiological tests on raw material and packing material according to a sample plan.
• Conducting microbiological tests on finished products (soft drinks, juices) and Water according to a sample plan 
• Conduct in-process QA checks on preforms and PET bottles as per the sample plan, monitor dimensions, weight, wall thickness and visual defects, record inspection results and escalate abnormalities, conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues, and ensure compliance with GMP, food safety and QA documentation.
• Conduct periodic sample tests (as per sample plan) on plant and personnel.
• Identifies areas which need to be improved as per standards.
• Communicates same with action plans to relevant management; Reports on discrepancies in order to ensure the specified standards are met in factory premises and with those working with products.
• Identifies chemical requirements from production; Prepares chemicals as per the standards in order to be used in the production of soft drinks.

Person Specifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science/ Bio Science or Agriculture with at least 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.  Preferably 1 years’ experience in Quality Assurance.
• Business understanding in Food and beverage Manufacturing & Quality Assurance Systems; Global Industry trends in the FMCG Industry.
• Sound knowledge in Manufacturing Consumer Food Products and related Food Technology, Total Quality Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Continuous Improvement Methodology, Food Standards and related regulatory requirements, Food safety awareness & implementation. Industrial Relations Legislation, Environment, Health and Safety legislation.
• Understanding and requirement fulfillment of Quality Management systems, Food safety management system, Occupational Health and Safety management system, Environmental Safety Management System, Energy Management System, Good Manufacturing Process and PRP, CCP, OPRP.
• Business Acumen; Building High Performance Teams; Analytical; Innovative; Communication; Adaptability; Negotiation; Decision Taking and Problem Solving; Organization; Attention to detail; and Customer Focus
