Social Worker (Internal Advert)

The research Social Worker (SW) who will work as a part of the research team of the Reducing Abandonment of Cancer Therapy (REACT).

Essential Functions And Duties:

• Assist in study consenting and enrollment :The SW will assist other members of the REACT team in consenting families to the research. This will involve explaining the study to the family, answering their questions, and obtaining their written consent. Expected time per week: 1-4 hours/week
• Assist in organizing and leading monthly social work guardian support groups: The SW will assist the Social Work team in organizing and leading monthly guardian support groups to occur at the cancer center ward. Expected time per week: TBD by Social Work division head
• Assist in obtaining baseline and interim socioeconomic data from families The SW will assist in administering a baseline questionnaire to families assessing economic and social stressors in place at home. A second, shorter questionnaire will be given to families at a mid-therapy point. Expected time per week: 1-4 hours/week
• Assist in administering caregiver stress evaluations to families :Description: A questionnaire evaluating family stress levels will be administered to families at two time-points during therapy. SW will assist in administering these questionnaires. The guardians may fill out the questionnaire themselves. If necessary, SW will read the questionnaire to the guardians and fill out the questionnaire for them. Expected time per week: 1-2 hours/week
•  Facilitate cash transfers to families: Description: The SW will assist the Program Manager in documenting receipt of cash transfers to families. Expected time per week: 1-3 hours
•  Assist in administering family exit interviews :The SW will aid in administering a questionnaire and short interview to families upon completing the study. Expected time per week: 1-4 hours
•  Additional duties as designated by the Social Work team :The remaining time within the regular work week available to the SW will be directed by the director of Social Work.
