About The Role

The Shipping Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact for all Distribution Center Shipping matters reporting to the Distribution Center Manager and/or Assistant Manager.  The Shipping Lead is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the Shipping function by completing all tasks assigned by the Distribution Center Manager and/or Assistant Manager.  Although this position is primarily a mid to late Day shift, it may require alternative scheduling or weekend working/overtime hours.

Responsibilities

Shipping

  • Pick and Pack (physically and systemically) orders, ensuring proper packaging procedures are followed; (proper usage of supplies, proper sized boxes for both weight and dimension and the proper labeling of products that require special handling), as well as the use of temperature-controlling materials to protect shipments from melting. (Gel Packs and Dry Ice)
  • Ensure that all orders scheduled to ship on a given day are processed and shipped. Any orders that the shipping team is unable to ship according to schedule must be communicated to the Distribution Center Manager and/or Assistant Manager immediately.
  • Utilize shipping software for the proper manifesting of both small parcels (FedEx and UPS), as well Less than Truckload (LTL) shipments
  • Utilize a Transportation Management System for the scheduling of Less Than Truckload (LTL) shipments, as well as preparation of Bills of Lading
  • Delivers “walk-in” orders to customers
  • Ensure all packing supplies (boxes, wrap, gel packs, Dry Ice) are available at all shipping stations for the duration of each shift and are replenished for the start of the next shipping day.
  • In the absence of the Distribution Center Manager or Assistant, assigns workload to those responsible for the packing and manifesting of the Company’s shipments.
  • Carries out other duties as may be assigned or requested by the Distribution Center Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Knowledge of Dry Ice declaration for frozen shipments a plus

Stock Maintenance

  • Assist with putting away all products resulting from miss-picks or order cancellations daily
  • Perform lot code accuracy “spot” checks daily

General Maintenance of Facility

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment both within the warehousing area (including the reefer and freezers), dock areas, and perimeter of the building.
  • Perform sweeping, mopping, pallet removal from the warehouse, (stacking neatly on the dock in designated areas), and trash pickup (all including dock areas and perimeter as assigned).
  • Report any facility infrastructure issues to the Distribution Center Manager and/or Assistant Manager

Qualifications And Skills

Required

  • High school diploma, 1-2 years of warehousing/receiving experience
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Safe work ethic

Preferred

  • Forklift certification
  • Fast learner with the ability to multitask

Salary Range

This role will be bonus-eligible.
