Role Overview:Release Manager to oversee the delivery and ongoing maintenance of release management processes for our Secure Core service, specifically focused on O365 & Endpoint. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating bi-annual security policy deployments, managing communication with stakeholders, and ensuring that all changes align with compliance frameworks and client requirements.

Role Overview:Release Manager to oversee the delivery and ongoing maintenance of release management processes for our Secure Core service, specifically focused on O365 & Endpoint. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating bi-annual security policy deployments, managing communication with stakeholders, and ensuring that all changes align with compliance frameworks and client requirements.
What Skills And Working Characteristics Should This Person Have?
- Proven experience in release management, preferably within a security or managed services environment.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft O365, endpoint security, and compliance frameworks (e.g., Cyber Essentials).
- Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with incident management, IT asset management, and service delivery processes.
- Ability to interpret and communicate technical changes to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Proficient in risk assessment and mitigation related to software and policy releases.
As A Release Manager, You’Ll Be Responsible For:
- Release Planning & Coordination:
- Lead the bi-annual deployment of Secure Core configuration updates in line with Microsoft’s security feature releases, ensuring all amendments are communicated and understood by clients up to two months in advance.
- Coordinate Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November) release cycles, including pre-emptive meetings with account and service delivery management.
- Assess the impact of new security features and policy amendments within clients’ infrastructure, facilitating risk analysis and readiness assessments.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Maintain clear and timely communication with internal teams (SOC, Project Coordinators, Account Managers, Service Delivery Managers) and clients regarding upcoming releases, potential impacts, and post-release actions.
- Prepare and distribute release notes and documentation outlining changes, implications, and recommended actions for clients.
- Process Improvement & Compliance:
- Ensure all release management activities comply with Cyber Essentials and maintain Microsoft Secure Score targets (greater than 70 at each bi-annual wave).
- Support lessons learnt activities post-release, contributing to continuous improvement of the release management process.
- Incident Support & Change Management:
- Work closely with the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and technical teams to ensure smooth deployment and rapid response to release-related incidents.
- Document and manage risks, issues, and change requests related to Secure Core releases.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Generate and maintain records of release schedules, deployment outcomes, client communications, and compliance with SLAs.
- Collaborate with IT asset management and incident management teams to ensure alignment and accurate reporting.
- Other Duties
- Overseeing the coordination and invoicing of Change Requests delivered across the Managed Services functions.
- Management of small projects delivered by Field Services function
