Role Overview

The Systems Engineering Manager, Greater China will leads a team of Systems Engineers focused on enabling pre-sales technical success with customers, partners, and prospects throughout Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. This role balances technical leadership, strategic market adaptation, and driving business through hands-on customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership:Coach, mentor, and develop the System Engineering team to deliver expert technical guidance on Pure Storage solutions, ensuring consistent quality across all engagements.Drive ongoing technical enablement—keeping the team updated on new products, competitive positioning, and architecture trends relevant to Greater China.Lead complex solution design, proof of concept, and technical deep-dives for strategic accounts.
• Customer Engagement & Advocacy:Build trusted relationships with enterprise customers and partners by understanding their business objectives, technical requirements, and regional IT ecosystem nuances.Champion the voice of the customer internally, advocating for features, product improvements, or local compliance needs. Support sales and marketing activities through technical presentations, workshops, and tailored solution demonstrations—often in Mandarin or Cantonese.
• Market Adaptation & Regional Strategy:
• Assess the Greater China storage and cloud landscape, adapting Pure Storage offerings and messaging to suit regional market trends, regulatory requirements, and competitive pressures.
• Ensure the team aligns with local business practices and effectively positions Pure Storage technology for the unique needs of Greater China customers.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Channel Partners, and Product Management to drive growth strategies and ensure technical alignment for major opportunities and launches in the region.
• Partner with Global and Regional System Engineering leadership to share best practices, coordinate enablement efforts, and localize collateral for Greater China.
• Operational Excellence:
• Set performance goals, manage pipeline activity, and forecast resource needs across the SE team. Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all local business, legal, and Pure Storage brand policies.

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated technical sales leadership experience—ideally in storage, cloud, or enterprise software—serving Greater China customers.
• Proven ability to coach and build high-performing SE teams in a multi-country, cross-language environment (Mandarin/Cantonese/English fluency desirable).
• Deep understanding of local IT infrastructure, cloud adoption, and storage trends in Greater China.
• Strong customer-facing and presentation skills, able to tailor messages for executives and technical audiences.
• Experience working with channel partners, system integrators, and distributors in the region.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or related field.

You will be based in our Hong Kong office. As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 3 days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.
