Job Summary:
NC/CNC Machine Operator I uses computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to cut and shape machine parts and precision products. Completes CNC machinery set up for production runs. Ensures the machine has the proper computer program and necessary tools installed. All machinery must be monitored for any problems during the production run. This may require adjusting the program or escalating the issue for resolution. After items have been produced, CNC Machine Operator I ensures all parts meet specifications and verify their quality.
Responsibilities:
- Studies drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
- Assesses tools.
- Sets-up equipment by setting adjustments to match specifications; testing tolerances.
- Fabricates parts by operating equipment; using hand tools.
- Verifies parts by using precision measuring instruments; testing production routine.
- Documents equipment changes by completing records.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Accomplishes operations and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
