We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Merchant Monitoring Analyst to join our Compliance team to support the ongoing oversight of our customers and partners. This role is responsible for screening and monitoring customer activity, assessing regulatory and consumer financial protection risk signals — and also plays an active role in evaluating and approving key customer updates throughout a customer’s lifecycle
This is a cross-functional role that blends compliance monitoring, risk assessment, and operational decision-making to protect the company while supporting a seamless customer experience.
What You'Ll Do
Ongoing Monitoring & Screening
- Monitor, research, and disposition alerts of regulatory actions or changes in regulatory landscapes and complaints monitoring, and website content monitoring
- Monitor, research, and manage alerts related to data integrity violations
- Support periodic reviews of customers through thorough analysis of licensing requirements based on vertical and use cases
Reviews & Approvals
- Validate licensing status for any new regulated customer and set up for ongoing monitoring
- Conduct network compliance reviews of new customers or existing customers adding new types of activity
- Maintain clear and compliant record of reviews and plan for ongoing monitoring
Collaboration & Reporting
- Collaborate closely with Merchant Review team members and Account Managers to ensure customer updates are handled efficiently and in line with internal risk policies.
- Support card network reporting (NYCE/Star/Accel)
- Contribute ideas for process improvement
- Document new procedures that will be used to train and scale the team
- Maintain internal data sources – source of truth – to support downstream reporting and ongoing monitoring.
- Support audits, examinations, or reporting by maintaining complete and well-documented case histories.
Who You Are
- 1–4 years of experience in a compliance, fraud, regulatory change management, or customer protection role in financial services, fintech, or a related industry.
- 1–4 years experience working in payments, money services businesses, or digital banking platforms
- Familiarity screening tools (e.g., Persona, G2)
- Familiarity with SQL
- Experience with identity theft prevention or fraud detection tools is a plus.
- Quick learner and creative thinker who is solution oriented
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive data and confidential information with discretion.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced and regulated environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Nice To Have
- ACAMS, CFE, or similar compliance or fraud-related certification.
- Familiarity with card network rules
The base pay for this position is $117,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This position is located in our Palo Alto, CA HQ or in our New York office.
