Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

Your role on the MSNBC Program Strategy team will be integral in the successful implementation of MSNBC’s program schedules across multiple platforms. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all programming info is input and maintained in our scheduling system and assisting in the creation and application of show formats for all MSNBC and CNBC programming.

What You’Ll Do:

  • Create, maintain and distribute MSNBC’s program schedules and all subsequent revisions.
  • Set up/manage all metadata pertaining to MSNBC original series in internal systems and with external partners (i.e. Gracenote). This includes material ID numbers, titles, descriptions, talent, platform restrictions and graphics requirements for all broadcasts.
  • Create, maintain and distribute program schedules for DTC platforms operated by MSNBC.
  • Work alongside producers to assist in building show formats and break structures for all programming airing on MSNBC and CNBC, that achieves editorial goals and meets commercial time requirements.
  • Assign, maintain and distribute show formats and break structures for MSNBC and CNBC programming that accounts for all required national, local and promo time and communicate this information and any revisions to the Commercial Operations, Promo Scheduling, Ad Sales and MSNBC and CNBC production groups.
  • Maintain and update various scheduling documents used by the Program Strategy team.
  • Become fully proficient in all Versant internal scheduling systems including Compass, GTM and Translator.
  • Ad hoc special tasks and projects such as creation of presentation slides, ratings research and competitive tracking.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or eqivalent work experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), Slack and Zoom
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Awareness of the TV landscape including traditional networks and platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Hulu and Amazon Prime
  • Flexible day-to-day schedule, with ability/willingness to work overtime in breaking news situations (after hours and weekends)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and drive them to completion
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Desired Characteristics:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in television planning, particularly live programming
  • Familiarity with Nielsen ratings
  • Creative and out of the box thinking style
  • Team player
  • Pro-active thinker/self-starter
