This role will engage with, equip, and empower churches, pastors, and community members to speak out on behalf of refugees and other immigrants in vulnerable situations.

This role will engage with, equip, and empower churches, pastors, and community members to speak out on behalf of refugees and other immigrants in vulnerable situations.

Role & Responsibilities:
- Organize targeted advocacy meetings between church pastors, community influencers and political leaders in Texas to effect positive policy changes for immigrants in Texas
- Develop and maintain relationships with local media outlets, organize op-eds and media coverage of the work of WR, and leverage media for immigration policy advocacy
- Maintain relationships and communication with local, state, and national civic leaders
- Empower and mobilize grass-roots advocacy campaigns
- Maintain records of church engagement and keep track of metrics related to church advocacy partnerships
- Plan and coordinate regular advocacy meetings and events to a variety of audiences including laypeople, church pastors, university students, and other community stakeholders
- Travel across the state for meetings and events as needed
Job Requirements:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Committed to the Mission, Vision, and Values of World Relief
- Personal Christian faith and a heart for serving people in vulnerable situations
- Valid Driver’s license and regular access to personal vehicle
- Willingness to travel for up to 25% of the role
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years applicable experience in public policy, communications, church mobilization, community engagement, or a related field
- Experience in public service or policy work preferred
- Fluent in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, Outlook
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to meet targeted goals and metrics
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and organize in a fast paced and fluid environment
- verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of immigration policy
