Position Summary:

  • Assist the research team in conducting research projects and, as required, provide functional supervision to Undergraduate/Graduate Research Assistants.
  • Conduct research projects using established protocols, processes, and procedures under the supervision of the Research Supervisor.
  • Examine the endocytosis of nanobeads and quantum dots into tissue culture cells.
  • Perform confocal microscopy to colocalize quantum dots and beads with GFP-tagged markers of the endocytic pathway and with markers for the actin cytoskeleton.
  • Prepare similarly treated cell samples for electron microscopy.
  • Conduct tissue culture and endocytosis experiments, including the preparation, maintenance, and manipulation of cell cultures.
  • Learn and apply microscopy techniques as needed to support research objectives.
  • Liaise with external collaborators in Michigan to coordinate aspects of the research project.
  • Execute other research activities including experimental planning, data collection, test administration, conducting interviews, recruitment and training of interviewers (if applicable), laboratory work, compilation of data, and preparation of research documentation.

Qualifications:

Possesses subject matter expertise acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree.
