What You Will Do

This Repair Design Engineer (RDE) position is with the Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) Military Repairs group. The RDE is responsible for the development of repairs and tooling for military engines program but is not limited to; development and qualification for the tooling required to execute repairs, support repair source qualifications, facilitating government approval, have direct interaction with government resources and coordination with the various repair sources.

Your responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Participate in a multi-discipline team to establish repair design requirements and ensure repairs are safe, durable, and meet latest repair procedures and quality requirements.
  • Research and quickly understand operating environments and functionality of components, their interactions with mating parts, and develop strategies which will return damaged parts back to service.
  • Create technical documentation that provide engineering requirements and substantiation on repairs procedures.
  • Interface with the technical and program management to secure priorities and understand programmatic issues.
  • Support audits at suppliers and overhaul depots (MRO).
  • Support customer (USAF) in the resolution of field supportability issues.
  • Provide input as required to other departments in the developing of a design repair, tasks or assignments.
  • Communicate with department leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule, budget and metrics (cost, weight, performance, etc.).
  • Be a lead in the utilization standard work procedures and CORE tools to promote continuous improvement efforts on processes/methods during the part life cycle.
  • Develop and sustain a healthy work relationship based on mutual trust with peers, internal and external customers where significant interaction is expected.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Enrolled in a degree program for Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • At least a minimum of 3 years of Engineering courses/curriculum
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Understanding of NX and ANSYS
  • Understanding in Teamcenter or other PLM systems
  • Understand technical processes and design requirements of multiple gas turbine hardware (internal, external, static, or rotating hardware)
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, plating, plasma spray, welding or brazing is also desired

Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering executes both military and commercial repair design and repairs substantiations for engines. We create and improve ASE business and repair development tools. We design, develop, and qualify military repair tooling.
