About The Role:

The Project Engagement Manager, ACMD, is responsible for the delivery and operationalisation of RMIT’s engagement in the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD) — a world-class medical technology and innovation hub.

As a central facilitator for RMIT and interfacing with the ACMD and its partner network, you will manage RMIT’s governance approach, operations and stakeholder engagement while brokering and representing RMIT’s involvement in ACMD initiatives. This role is central to building networks and collaborations across the MedTech sector, supporting RMIT’s strategic priorities and delivering meaningful innovation outcomes.  You will lead RMIT’s participation ensuring RMIT is enabled to deliver a strong pipeline of collaborative projects delivered on time and to the required quality standards.

Key aspects of the role include -

  • Developing and implementing project plans, budgets, and pipeline approach to RMIT research, teaching and engagement activity in the ACMD and through the collaboration.
  • Coordinating RMIT’s representation in ACMD committees and governance structures,
  • Managing risk, compliance, and project documentation to ensure audit-readiness.
  • Engaging stakeholders in ACMD related activity including with researchers, partner organisations, industry and SMEs, clinicians and advocacy groups.
  • Leading communications in collaboration with RMIT and ACMD teams to maximise visibility and engagement.

About You


You are a highly skilled project professional with proven experience leading complex, multi-partner projects in the research, innovation, or health/medical technology sectors. You bring strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse internal and external groups, including industry, hospitals, and universities.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Demonstrated excellence in stakeholder and relationship management for projects of significant scale.
  • Strong leadership by influence, with advanced negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • A track record of managing competing priorities, large-scale infrastructure or capital projects, and multi-partner collaborations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, combined with strategic thinking and problem-solving.
  • Financial acumen, including experience with budgets and cost-sharing models.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of MedTech regulatory frameworks and policies (desirable).
