Senior Data Analyst

Position Title: Senior Data Analyst Job Family: IT Functional & Process Design Position Level (Grade): E5 (Expert 5) / Hay grade 16

Location -  EU or east coast US.

Position Objective: The Senior Data Analyst acts as a leader within the data and analytics team, responsible for steering the most complex and high-impact data initiatives. This role is pivotal in translating strategic business needs into well-architected data solutions, from global data transformation to enterprise-level reporting. The Senior Data Analyst operates with a high degree of autonomy, serving as a subject matter expert and a proxy for the product owner when needed, ensuring that the solutions we build are robust, scalable, and directly aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Solution Design: Independently lead and manage the end-to-end data solutioning process for multiple, complex initiatives, owning initial discovery, requirements elicitation and design, and partnering with development, qa and implementation teams to ensure business objectives are met.
• Strategic Requirements Definition: Partner with senior leadership and business stakeholders to deconstruct ambiguous problems, shape business cases, and define strategic requirements for data transformation, migration, and analytics solutions.
• Project and Team Leadership: Guide and coordinate the analytical effort on large-scale initiatives, which may include overseeing the work of other Data Analysts. Mentor junior team members on best practices in requirements gathering, data analysis, and solution design.
• Complex Analysis: Perform advanced analysis and profiling to support solution design. Create and own critical artifacts, including source-to-target data maps, comprehensive data dictionaries, process flows, and wireframes for complex visualizations.
• Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison between business units and technical development teams on critical projects. Proactively manage stakeholder expectations, negotiate priorities, and ensure a shared understanding of project goals and outcomes.
• Product Owner Proxy: Develop a deep understanding of the business domain and product vision, enabling you to seamlessly fill in for the product owner/leader in key meetings and decision-making processes when required.

Skills And Experience:

• Experience: 5-7+ years of experience in a Data Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or similar role, with a proven track record of leading complex projects.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead project workstreams, mentor others, and influence stakeholders at all levels. Experience handling unstructured and fluid work environments with minimal guidance.

• Data Proficiency (Advanced):

• Agile & Business Analysis: Expertise in Agile development methodologies. Proven ability to create high-quality user stories, process flows, and test plans. Experience with tools like JIRA and Confluence.
• Expert-level SQL skills for complex data querying and analysis.
• Deep experience with the full lifecycle of data transformation, including source data discovery, profiling, and creating detailed source-to-target mapping documentation.
• Proficiency in defining requirements for BI and analytics solutions, including metrics, wireframes, and visualizations (using tools like Tableau, Data Studio, etc.).
• Strong understanding of data architecture, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling concepts.

• Good Documentation Skills

• Is timely and not hesitant in surfacing issues
• Team player, comfortable working with and supporting a distributed team across different countries and timezones
• Experience with BigQuery, Google Sheets and Jira would be a plus
• Experience in automations and scripting is a plus
