We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!
This role sits in the Data Platform and Products (DPP) organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences.
The Data Engineer will report to the Manager, Data Engineering.
About The Role & Team:

We are looking for a Data Engineer who has experience with cloud platforms and can create scalable solutions for data platforms. You will develop products and tooling, provide technical expertise, and ensure the delivery of features and capabilities for the Data Platform and Products team. You will be part of a group of experienced developers who build technical solutions that support the entire Disney Experiences segment, powering the interactions and experiences that create magic for our guests.
What You’Ll Do:
- Assist in designing, building, and overseeing the deployment of technology architecture, solutions, and software aimed at capturing, managing, and utilizing structured and unstructured data from various sources
- Support the development of processes and structures to efficiently channel, route, and store data considering business and technical requirements, and utilizing cloud and local storage solutions as necessary
- Contribute to applying technical tools and programming for data cleansing, organization, transformation, and maintenance, with a focus on incorporating automation and advanced techniques like big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning
- Participate in establishing design standards and assurance processes for software and systems development to ensure data compatibility, operability, and integrity throughout data connections, flows, and storage systems
- Collaborate on reviewing internal and external business and product requirements to align data operations and activities with organizational objectives and needs
- You will be encouraged to stay up to date with emerging technologies
- May be required to provide support escalation, coordinate the ongoing operations, and support the enhancement of existing tools as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience
- Proficiency in fundamentals of data pipelining, ELT/ETL processes, data architecture, and the overall data lifecycle, complemented by hands-on experience in designing and implementing efficient data workflows and processes
- Demonstrating ability to contribute across multiple phases of development for complex projects, including technical design, implementation, and end-to-end testing, ensuring the successful delivery of data engineering solutions
- Passionate about delivering data engineering projects collaboratively, with a strong commitment to achieving team goals
- Effective troubleshooting skills, capable of identifying and resolving sophisticated issues with sound judgment and initiative
- Adaptable to agile environments, comfortable with changing requirements and effective collaboration across teams
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, AWS services (e.g. IAM, S3, Kinesis Data Stream, Kinesis Firehose, Lambda, DynamoDB, DMS), with a proactive demeanor towards continuous learning and skill development, and an interest in mastering emerging data engineering tools and methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise coding and developing solutions that solve complex problems, while keeping in mind code space and time complexity
- Proficiency in DevOps practices, e.g.,: CI/CD, docker, testing, and automation
- Understanding of trade-offs between different data storage systems and architectures (data warehouses, SQL vs NoSQL, partitioning, etc)
- Knowledge of DevOps concepts
- Experience developing real-time data processing using Apache Flink
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code, e.g.: Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, etc
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
