Job Description

The Senior Industrial Engineer 2 position is a seasoned technical expert with high degree of innovative and conceptual thinking. The Sr IE2, in this individual contributor position, utilizes technical methods and discipline to offer business and customer expertise, with the goal of recommending and designing systems that coordinate workers, equipment, materials, and information for the delivery of a complex product, process, or system.   This person should have advanced industry intelligence to provide creative solutions to further simplify workflows and operations for consistent, reliable and predictable customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Independently Leads:

  • Process obsessed, eliminates waste, and optimizes using lean/six-sigma methodology to lead and provide fulfillment and delivery solutions for current and future operations.
  • Develops and maintains process flow maps for all processes in scope.
  • Has extensive experience with collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing large amounts of data. Has deep understanding of data intersection points and a keen awareness/insight to root causes of variances, discrepancies, and unlocks ambiguity.
  • Provides advanced engagement on alternatives for process, equipment, and system design.
  • Leverages process knowledge of store fulfillment and delivery functions to identify Nordstrom and Nordstrom rack store-wide improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance and iterates current state to the desired future state.
  • Recommends process enhancements that typically involve the assessment of end-to-end workflows, equipment, layouts, and tools to optimize both customer and employee experiences.
  • Conducts time and motion studies, partners with other Industrial engineers to validate methods, procedures, data, and results; and approves engineered labor standards.
  • Utilizes information on Labor standards to identify areas of opportunity that will reduce the gap between operational performance and the engineered labor standards.
  • Champions, influences, and leads Standard Work efforts for network store-wide solutions. Partners with National store program teams to ensure changes to Standard Work are reflected in training and leadership guides.
  • Expert level understanding of technical documentation including architectural, mechanical, electrical and software to assess designs and issues as required, with minimal guidance from manager.
  • A subject matter expert (SME) in discrete event simulations focused on intricate network modeling.  Advances modeling skills to include enhanced programming capabilities.
  • Works with Sr. Leadership, across business units and/or markets, to deliver data driven processes and solutions. 
  • Develops specific business cases and requirements for innovative system solutions/capability unlocks networkwide.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10+ years’ Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering Experience
  • 3+ years’ experience within a Supply Chain/ Store Operations Fulfillment Environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or Industrial and Systems Engineering; Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to travel 50-75%

$121,000.00 - $199,000.00 AnnualThis position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses.
