MUFG Bank is seeking for a Director, Fund and Insurance Client Coverage, based in Hong Kong. This pivotal role offers you the chance to shape and implement strategic initiatives across the Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB) division, working closely with regional teams, product partners, and second line functions. What You'Ll Do:

As a Director for the Funds and Insurance Client Coverage business, you will lead a team of high performing bankers to grow and deepen the firm’s existing pool of clients as well as build a strategy to selectively expand our client reach. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with internal stakeholders to design strategies that address complex client needs while maintaining rigorous account planning standards. You will engage directly with institutional investors and insurance clients, building trusted partnerships through thoughtful relationship management. By leveraging your expertise in banking products, regulatory frameworks, and cross-border issues, you will ensure that clients receive comprehensive solutions tailored to their unique requirements. Your success in this role will be measured not only by your ability to achieve ambitious revenue targets but also by your contribution to fostering an inclusive team environment where knowledge is shared freely and everyone is empowered to excel.

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders including regional coverage teams, product specialists, and second line functions to create and implement effective strategies for the Global Corporate & Investment Banking division.
  • Drive the execution of strategic plans specifically tailored for institutional investors and insurance clients by engaging with cross-functional teams and leveraging market insights.
  • Support the management of target client portfolios through comprehensive account planning processes designed to deepen relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with product partners to market and deliver a broad range of the bank’s worldwide products and services that meet client needs.
  • Achieve revenue targets at both segment and individual client levels while managing balance sheet performance and striving for above-target return on equity.
  • Actively identify, develop, and promote new business opportunities by fostering relationship management with target client groups and encouraging cross-selling of a healthy product mix.
  • Ensure that account plans are meticulously maintained, fit for execution, and regularly reviewed to align with evolving client requirements.
  • Introduce target clients to affiliates and partner banks within the group network to explore new business avenues as part of a unified approach.
  • Champion best practices in relationship management by sharing knowledge across teams and supporting colleagues in achieving collective goals.

What You Bring:

To thrive as a Director for Funds and Insurance Client Coverage you will bring extensive experience gained from senior roles within major banking organisations where you have managed complex portfolios involving institutional investors or insurance sector clients. Your background should include hands-on involvement in structuring sophisticated financial solutions underpinned by sound knowledge of regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions. You are adept at navigating intricate stakeholder landscapes thanks to your excellent communication abilities which enable you to build consensus around strategic objectives. People leadership skills and track record of managing teams. Your analytical acumen allows you to assess credit risk accurately while your commercial awareness ensures alignment between client needs and organisational goals. Above all else your commitment to collaboration inclusivity continuous learning sets you apart as someone who inspires confidence among peers clients alike.

  • A degree qualification is essential along with strong stakeholder & people management skills enabling effective collaboration across departments within a large financial institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in credit analysis combined with deep familiarity with rating agencies’ methodologies, cross-border financial issues, asset-liability management (ALM), and related areas.
  • Professional qualifications such as Actuarial credentials or CFA/CAIA certifications will be viewed favourably.
  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience within the banking industry is necessary including at least 5-7 years covering Financial Institutions Group (FIG) roles spanning coverage, analysis, advisory or specialist positions, and at least 3 years as a team leader.
  • Global exposure coupled with established client networks is essential for success given the international scope of responsibilities associated with this position.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are needed to foster trust-based relationships both internally among colleagues and externally with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • A collaborative mindset combined with sensitivity towards cultural differences ensures effective teamwork within an inclusive environment focused on shared success.
