Supplier Quality Engineer – Carmel, IN
This person will own the ongoing supplier performance and development for the suppliers within their assigned commodities. The role requires the creation of strong working relationships with not only suppliers, but corresponding Allegion commodity managers, engineers and plant teams, to be able to resolve issues quickly when they arise with minimal impact to production, and to support commodity management’s strategic supply chain vision. This role also supports Allegion’s new product development initiatives, using processes, tools and supplier feedback to drive quality into part and product design early.

What You Will Do:
- Perform On Site Assessments and Technical Assessments at potential, new suppliers as determined bycommodity management.
- Onboard new suppliers within their assigned commodities to ensure they understand Allegion’s productionexpectations.
- Support / Lead the creation or modification, implementation and execution of supplier-related quality processesacross Allegion’s global supply base and within Allegion’s Americas business units.
- Collaborate with Suppliers, Commodity Management, Procurement, Sustaining and NPD Engineering andOperations to establish, implement and maintain strategic and comprehensive supplier quality activities which arealigned to the business objectives and internal and external customer expectations
- Ensures quality KPI’s are improved / maintained, understands and supports commodity management’s strategicinitiatives and fosters solid working relationships between suppliers and Allegion’s manufacturing locations andbusiness teams.
- Supports Allegion NPD programs as assigned, and as part of these assignments, uses the tools and processes inplace to drive quality into parts and products (NPD project playbook, leading Allegion’s Characteristics ReviewProcess, PPAP, traceability, safe launch, etc.), collaborating closely with plant quality and the other functions withinthe NPD team to achieve a successful, on time launch.
- Conducts On-Site Assessments and Technical Assessments in support of new sourcing to evaluate the capability of the supplier’s processes to produce and deliver parts that meets customer requirements.
- Independently operates at supplier locations to drive supplier improvement / development, cooperatively working toidentify root cause, develop and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Provides quality details required to support source selection and supplier rationalization initiatives.
- Provides Suppliers with technical oversight and expertise in areas such as Process Development thru CapabilityStudies, FMEA, Measurement Systems Analysis, Control Plans, Error Proofing.
- Works in conjunction with Plant QE and Suppliers on significant supplier issues or changes - leading cross-functionalteams through these challenges using proven methodologies (8D, project management tools) to successfully reachon-time closure without impacting Allegion production.
- Supports creation of / updates to supplier quality metrics, communications and processes.
- Assists in training suppliers and internal teams on Supplier Quality processes, tools, procedures and workinstructions.
- Use knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply strategy to deliver a high level of business and operationssupport
What You Need To Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of Quality Engineering experience in increasing responsibility in the areas of [electronics]Quality, Supplier Quality, Supplier Management or related field, including at least 2 years of direct manufacturing, inplant experience.
- Demonstrated program / project management experience and in-depth process improvement and problem solvingexperience (including expertise with QC and QA tools such as APQP, Lean, Six Sigma, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, VAVE,etc.).
- Active knowledge of electronic and/or mechanical manufacturing and assembly processes and experience in differentsupply management situations.
- Solid understanding of Quality Management Systems ISO-9001/TS-16949.
- Working knowledge Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) and associated measurements / gaging.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, statistical software and internet / intranet applications.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and influence with all organizational levels in a matrix organization with aninternational exposure.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence suppliers and cross functionalteams.
- Professional in both customer (internal and external) and supplier interactions.
- Ability to travel 50-75%, sometimes on short notice.
