At Stora Enso, we recognize that a good and comfortable work environment plays a critical role in employee wellbeing, engagement and overall performance. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are offering a master thesis opportunity focused on understanding what “good” looks like in terms of physical work environment and how our organization experiences it today.

Innovate for a better climate. Every day.

This project aims to evaluate the current work environment across different functions and levels, benchmark best practices and identify areas for improvement. Your insights will help shape the future of our workplaces.

Your Mission

  • Define clear benchmarks for what constitutes a good physical work environment
  • Assess how employees experience their work environment across different roles and locations
  • Identify improvement areas based on survey results, interviews and site observations
  • Explore innovative trends and best practices in workplace design and management

You will collaborate with the Packaging Solutions People & Culture Team to understand current practices. The project includes survey analysis, interviews and focus groups, as well as site visits to selected locations to identify improvement opportunities. You will also research industry best practices and emerging trends in workplace management.

For this position, you can plan your time and work flexibly from home or one of our offices, with additional visits to our factories as part of the project.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a strategic transformation while gaining hands-on experience in operational analysis, benchmarking and industrial productivity. After agreement with your university supervisor, the project scope and design will be tailored to suit your academic requirements, your interests and Stora Enso’s goals. We encourage you to apply as a thesis pair for optimal support and impact. You will belong to the Packaging Solutions business area. The project will be executed during the spring semester 2026, from January to June and therefor consists of 30 HP (Swedish university credits).
