What does a great “Batch and File Monitoring operation, Professional” do?

Batch and File Monitoring operations team is 24x7X365 - always on.  Responsible for Service Delivery of all batch processing and file transmissions on mainframe and Distributed environment. This includes critical SLA's to and from merchants, banks, clients, associations.   Monitoring of the Mainframes and resolving issues on the mainframe and scheduling environment. BFMOps is the first line to address the incident, if further assistance is needed, they reach out to appropriate support group to make sure the issue gets the required attention.

What You Will Do:

• Monitor the operating status of Mainframe / Distributed Batch environment and critical transmission through standard computing processes/procedures and respond to client’s enquiries.
• Assist in troubleshooting processing problems / bottlenecks and with coordinating processing workload and batch schedules to meet functional deadlines/SLA.
• Understands and analyze JCL, perform job restarts and fix basic abends.
• Maintain daily logs, handovers re-reruns and equipment malfunction reports to ensure maximum uptime for scheduled production.

What you will need to have:

• Good communication and reasoning skill.
• Bachelor’s degree in science /Engineering.
• 4- 5 years’ experience in data processing with a focus on operations in IBM MVS/Os390/ zOS environment.
• Knowledge of JCL, TSO, ISPF. Able to read  basic syslog.
• Knowledge of Transmission products like SFG, NDM.
• Understanding of CA7/ Control-M scheduling software.
• Ready to work in 12 hr shift.

What would be great to have:

• Knowledge of ticketing tools like ServiceNow or Remedy.
• Sound knowledge and practical approach towards ITIL concepts, especially, Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with next level teams and clients, solve major issues.
