Job Title:

Manager-RN Quality/Patient Safety

Job Summary:

Manages and maintains the development of a comprehensive organizational nursing quality & patient safety improvement program inclusive of analysis & trending data. Promotes a culture of safety within the organization. Leads and promotes a culture of safety. Works closely with the CMO and CQO in developing process improvements that support the elimination of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in nursing. Master's degree in Nursing or Health Care Administration preferred. Minimum of 5 years recent acute care experience with at least 2 years supervisory or management experience or process improvement/quality experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:  Valid RN license. CPHQ preferred.

  • Responsibilities
  • Manages the necessary resources to implement and sustain the nursing quality & patient safety program congruent with organizational goals.
  • Develops key partnerships with leaders in the CMO office to include risk management, performance improvement, & quality to prioritize patient safety improvement activities, identify opportunities to reduce variation in care delivery and the incidence of harm events.
  • Deploys nursing quality & patient safety science principles, theory, methods, standards & regulatory requirements to build & maintain safe processes & systems.
  • Promotes quality and patient safety accountability by educating, engaging, & training staff in quality & patient safety initiatives.  Apply change management principles to ensure successful implementation of initiatives & processes.
  • Measure performance & clinical outcomes via identification of trends, dashboards, & data analysis; tracking progress against national & organization goals/benchmarks, develops strategies for achieving and maintaining quality and safety goals.
  • Serves as a leading advocate for nursing quality & patient safety.
  • Supports & sustains transparent and just environment that promotes learning, safe systems, & accountability.
  • Identifies opportunities for patient & family centered care by staying abreast of current literature & utilizing consumer patient safety tools as appropriate
