We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, Anti Money Laundering/Prevention/KYC Manager to join our Sanctions Operations team. This role is located in Manchester, UK and will be largely focussed on employee training on Financial Crime (primarily Sanctions).

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Own the training function for a global operations team across multiple locations. 
  • Improve staff understanding of financial crime – across all areas of operations – including but not limited to disposition of alerts (Sanctions / AML), investigations of alerts, blocking/reporting requirements, escalation requirements false positive mitigation (including tuning the filters), list management and any other functions within the operations responsibility. Prepare staff to improve research, rationale and reasoning on cases that vary in risk and complexity – both for transactional screening and customer/static screening. 
  • Deliver training to ensure it reaches the staff via multiple means for maximising the impact at the individual and team level. The training must not on focus on the sanctions / regulatory aspects but also the operationalising them within the bank’s infrastructure. Measure the effectiveness of training (individuals and teams) though suitable teams and continuously adjust / adapt the training content and delivery. 
  • Oversee (support) teams involved in reviewing operational and non-operational incidents to enable continuous improvements and thereby reducing operational risks for the firm on an ongoing basis. Review all operational issues on an ongoing basis and ensure that future training needs are factored.
  • Determine training needs on a periodic basis and refresh appropriately. The training needs would need to evolve based on current operational framework, emerging risks, thematic industry issues and newer regulations. 
  • Ensure that the bank’s policy and operational procedures are aligned all the time. Collaborate with 2nd line on all new policy changes – to ensure they are understood and thereby work on operationalising them. Ensure all aspects at product level trainings are covered – ranging Trade Finance to Securities to Payments (including but not limited to handling of SSIs, secondary sanctions etc)
  • Provide input and leverage feedback to determine whether trainings address department findings and organizational needs, supporting the implementation of training programs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders from other functions to coordinate Sanctions / AML / Financial Crime operational procedures and guidelines to comply with the overall compliance strategy. Work with other leaders in operations to ensure organisational goals are met.
  • Partner with internal teams to also support client training on sanctions so that we work with clients on education and supporting them in smoothing the transaction execution.
  • Recruit, direct, motivate, and develop staff to maximize individual contributions, professional growth, and effective team collaboration.
  • Manage financial resources of the team, including budgets and expenses, ensuring achievement of function goals and operational readiness.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 10-15 years of total work experience preferred, with 1-3 years of management experience preferred.
  • Individuals with a strong understanding of Financial Crime and Risk Mitigation 
  • Applicable local/regional licenses or certifications as required by the business.
