MSL-Gastroenterology (Tremfya and Stelara in Inflammatory Bowel Disease) is responsible for building scientific partnerships with medical KOLs and seeking to understand unmet medical needs by approaching each interaction in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in Immunology Therapeutic Area as a field medical communication channel of the Medical Affairs, J&J Innovative Medicine Korea. S/He in this position will play a role in developing and maintaining a medical strategic plan in alignment with cross-functional team and company strategy through collaboration with internal/external stakeholders. This position is also responsible for conducting all activities in accordance with current regulatory and health care compliance guidelines.
1. External Customer Engagement & Partnership Based On Strategic Agility As A Medical Representative Of Medical Affairs, J&J Innovative Medicine (Jjim) Korea
- Develop and maintain external relationships with key Individuals (KIs) to identify scientific needs and stay abreast of current scientific trends:
- Conduct balanced communication with KIs to understand their perspectives through various interaction channels, including one on one or group discussions, presentations, and remote communications.
- Provide clinical support to KIs and physicians on the clinical application of JJIM Korea’s established and pipeline products.
- Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific information and as needed, discuss disease state concepts and in-depth medical topics, ensuring medical accuracy and compliance with local procedures, ethical guidelines and legal directives.
- Develop individual plans and objectives aligned with Medical Affairs Strategy and approved by the manager, including a core list of KIs for regular interactions, with mechanisms in place for tracking and evaluating progress against the plan using the iMedical CRM.
- Demonstrate the ability to calculate the impact of actions or words and employ a tailored approach:
- Integrate scientific data into real-life practice to meet customer needs, adapting interpersonal styles to various situations and individuals.
- Anticipate the responses of different individuals and teams based on their vantage point and perspectives.
- Generate and share meaningful medical insights during interactions with KIs.
- Execute plans regarding proactive and reactive outreach as approved through the legal/HCC exceptions process.
- Plan and execute external medical activities:
- Exhibit a strategic approach to identifying educational gaps and opportunities.
- Represent and support scientific meetings including congresses, symposia, advisory boards, and investigator meetings.
- Interpret findings and report them with recommendations for action to relevant internal partners.
2. Cross Functional Collaboration & Teaming
- Collect and provide meaningful medical insights back to the medical and cross-functional organizations to support strategy development.
- Support initial and ongoing medical/scientific area and product-specific training and provide key scientific updates to internal stakeholders, as necessary and appropriate (e.g. Commercial, Regulatory, Market Access, Medical Affairs, GCO/MADU etc.).
3. Research Liaison With Broad Product And Therapeutic Area Knowledge
- Leverages knowledge of standards of care, company-sponsored clinical trials, investigator-initiated studies, the competitive landscape to facilitate external-internal research communication.
- Address and manage Investigator-initiated studies upon external requests.
- Engage with external investigators regarding unsolicited research inquiries and act as liaison to Clinical research team (ie. GCO and MADU).
- Provide clinical trial support to identify potential sites, resolve issues with enrolled sites, and participate in meetings as appropriate, including site initiation visits and investigator meetings upon request.
4. Strong Scientific/Business Acumen & Effectiveness
- Consistently develop scientific and medical knowledge as well as business acumen through self-driven learning.
- Maintain in-depth scientific and therapeutic knowledge, including competitive products, as well as disease states and standards of care.
- Attend scientific conferences to gather and understand new scientific information relevant to the company and the external scientific community.
- Consistently lead one or more scientific or strategic projects that enhance acumen or increase visibility.
5. Compliance With Applicable Laws And Policies
- Must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, rules, policies and standard operating procedures.
- Report any Adverse Events (AEs), Product Quality Complaints (PQCs), and/or special situations in a timely manner.
- Regularly check the training provided and ensure it is conducted in a timely manner (e.g. SUMMIT training system).
Qualifications
Education:
- Relevant science background (e.g., medicine, pharmacy, life science, etc.)
- Advanced degree in Master of Science or above (Ph.D., M.D., or Pharm.D.) is preferred
Experience And Skills:
- At least 2 years’ experience as field medical of pharmaceutical companies is preferred.
- Previous experience of medical role in Immunology-related therapeutic area in the global pharma industry is highly preferred.
- In-depth scientific and/or therapeutic knowledge, strength in research and interpretation of scientific publications
- Knowledge for research, clinical trial design, and process
- Knowledge of national healthcare and access system
- Excellent English language skills, spoken and written
- Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a broad range of external and internal personnel
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Awareness of, and adherence to, Johnson & Johnson Credo values and International Health Care Business Integrity Guide
- Domestic and International travels are required.
