Insurance Specialist Iii

This position involves performing moderately complex (journey-level) handling of written inquiriesand resolving Texas consumer complaints involving insurance issues such as claim settlements,obtaining benefits, resolving customer service grievances, and coordinating with insurance companiesfor responses and resolutions. Work involves researching and identifying alleged violations of theTexas Insurance Code and Texas Administrative Code, including examining, reviewing and interpreting complaints, records, reports, and management practices to ensure compliance with statutes and agency rules. Work may include communication with the public via the agency complaint portal, byemail, by phone, or in person, entering information into databases, processing correspondence to customers, and other clerical services. Manages a dynamic case load of complaints involving multiplelines of insurance. Coordinates with other functional areas of TDI. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. 

This Position:

  • Communicate with consumers and insurance companies, agents and agencies; provide clarification, factually correct findings, and emotionally intelligent responses for consumers.
  • Hold dynamic conversations with consumers and insurance companies, agents and agencies to resolve issues and come to mutual understanding of facts.
  • Research and identify facts in accordance with the Texas Insurance Code, Texas Administrative Code, policies, and other applicable rules to review complaint narratives and responses.
  • Manages and prioritizes case load.
  • Performs workflow duties such as entering new complaints into an agency database, composing correspondence, classifying and routing electronic documents, processing mail, and generating and synthesizing report data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Sixty college hours.
  • One- and one-half years of experience in technical insurance or in a field relative to assignment.
  • Education and experience relevant to position requirements may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.
  • Preference in Spanish speaking, reading, and writing.
  • You must submit a writing sample with your application.
  • The interview will include a writing test.
  • This position requires regular work attendance.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, test if applicable.
