OIEC is the state agency that helps injured employees with their Texas workers’ compensation claims. The agency assists, educates, and advocates on their behalf. OIEC provides services in 20 offices across the state. Agency services include advocacy, customer service, and dispute assistance through OIEC’s Ombudsman Program.
Human Resources Liaison (HR Specialist I) – Austin - Temporary
The temporary Human Resources (HR) Liaison performs entry-level human resources management work. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performing routine work following standard procedures and may assist other staff in performing work of greater complexity. Works for the Legal and Staff Services Manager.
This is a temporary position that lasts up to six months from the date of hire.
This Position:
- Assists in the talent acquisition process: recruit, screen, and interview applicants; evaluate their qualifications; and refer qualified applicants to the appropriate hiring manager; and/or make hiring recommendations
- Enters, updates, and retrieves information from various automated human resources systems
- Maintains the filing for all personnel-related forms; and develops and maintains filing systems
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
This Position Requires:
- graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
- one year, full-time Human Resources experienceRelevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferences For This Position Include:
- Two years’ State of Texas human resources experience
- Centralized Accounting & Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS) or PeopleSoft experience
Government Work Experience

- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
This position requires demonstrated skill in:
